Operational Tools: Information Management Specialist

 

Do you enjoy combining your technical expertise with business knowledge to create innovative solutions in a fast-paced environment? If so, this may be the position for you. As a member of the Operational Tools team, you will be given the opportunity to leverage your strong technical skills to support the dynamic and evolving business needs of our organization. You will design and create SQL queries across a variety of source systems that deliver crucial data required to drive the business forward. In addition, you will have the opportunity to build light automation and efficiency tools using the Microsoft Business Intelligence stack. Excellent collaboration skills are a must, as you will be working closely with business partners to translate their needs into data and technology solutions that deliver outcomes. No two days are ever the same in this role and challenges are plentiful.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with business partners in Prudential Retirement to understand specific needs, then designs and delivers data and other technology solutions
  • Employs SQL writing to retrieve and manipulate complex data across a variety of database systems (DB2, SQL Server, Hadoop/Impala, Oracle)
  • Acts as a Subject Matter Expert for data within the Enterprise Data Warehouse and Retirement Data Mart
  • Develops and supports technology solutions using the Microsoft Business Intelligence stack (Visual Studio, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, SSMS, SharePoint, Power BI, .NET)
  • Conducts rigorous testing of technology solutions and code to minimize maintenance and maximize quality



Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree (An equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience may be considered).

REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3 years financial services experience
  • Minimum 5 years database and SQL experience
  • Proficiency with VBA or C# (object oriented) programming desired
  • Familiarity with Retirement or Marketing industry a plus
ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

 

  • Experience developing reporting at all levels: Analytical, Operational, Ad-Hoc, Metrics
  • Knowledge of Data Warehousing concepts: ETL, dimensional vs. relational architecture, data marts
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle
  • Ability to articulate technical concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Highly analytical and detail oriented with excellent problem-solving aptitude
  • Flexible; embraces change
  • Possesses a positive attitude
  • Ability to prioritize issues and work independently
  • Demonstrated customer focus and strong commitment to timely, high quality results
  • Familiarity with the Hadoop platform and specifically Impala/Hive concepts
