Pfizer Grange Castle, one of the largest integrated biopharmaceutical plants in the world is to start producing supplies of the Covid-19 vaccine.Up to $40m will be invested in our manufacturing facility which will lead tothe creation of a diverse set of roles across ourbusiness. The Grange Castle facility will now produce the mRNA drug substance, making it only the second plant in our network to do so.

This role will be to provide process science support to the ongoing requirements of the Drug Substance Operating Unit.

**About the role:**

+ Support sustaining operations in a day-to-day capacity Provide routine process technical support, troubleshooting and resolution of manufacturing process and technology issues to ensure the successful completion and disposition ofbatches in a timely manner.

+ Experience writing technical documents, including SOPs, batch records that describe protein manufacturing unit operations and processes.

+ Deliver presentations that distill complex ideas and proactively communicate results and progress to technical teams, management, and business leadership.

+ Troubleshoot issues arising throughthe Investigation (ER / QAR) process including but not limited to leading technical investigations and supporting the implementation of immediate CAPAs.

+ Identify and implement improvements to recurring equipment, process and procedural inefficiencies.

+ Perform real time Process Monitoring and data collation to support problem definitions, and development of remediation plans.

+ Support the document periodic review process.

+ Be competent with Quality Systems, including Manufacturing Investigations, Change Controls and Commitments and Maintenance systems.

+ Be competent in developing Technical/ product/process impact assessments in support of investigation closures.

+ Implement short term process corrective actions and performance improvements.

+ Raise and execute change controls for Technical Operations.

+ Provide technical training on process and technology areas as required by Operations.

+ Identify process improvement projects to Core Technical Services.

+ Compile investigation summary for APQR.

+ Participate in cross-functional project teams as applicable.

+ Support Compliance Inspections and enquiries from Regulatory Agencies.

+ Work to implement a culture of Right-First Time through partnerships with Operations and Core Engineering and Core Technical Services to optimise our technical and business processes.

**About you:**

+ Minimum qualification of a B. Sc. Degree in Bioprocess Science, Engineering, Biotechnology or equivalent with a preference for Biological, Biochemical or Chemical disciplines.

+ Experience and knowledge of biological manufacturing processes, including key processing parameters and their effect on batch performance.

+ A minimum of 5 Years cGMP industrial experience.

+ Demonstrated aptitude for technical learning and problem solving.

+ Experience or aptitude in leading and managing project work/teams.

+ Experience of FDA and EU licensing inspections.

+ Proficient in the use of Statistical tools such as Minitab.

+ Fully Proficient as a Proteins Process Scientist SME either upstream or down but preferable both.

+ Downstream SME **-** Knowledgeable in protein biochemistry and analytical methods relevant to protein purification.

+ Experience with operation of different modes of chromatography (ion-exchange, hydrophobic interaction, affinity, mixed mode, etc.).

+ Experience with principles and operations of continuous centrifugation, microfiltration, ultra-filtration, cell disruption, membrane filtration.

+ Upstream SME **-** Experience with shake-flask culture, bioreactor operation, aseptic technique, and mammalian cell culture.

+ Experience with single-use disposable equipment applications for all typical unit operations used in bio-manufacturing.
