DESCRIPTION


The North American Consumables Private Brand (NA CPB) Team is looking for a Principal Sourcing Manager to join our team and develop new approaches for product sourcing across domestic and international suppliers. The Principal Sourcing Manager will create and implement new-to-CPB sourcing approaches and strategies, source international suppliers/selection, and source against nuanced sub-categories where supplier bases are smaller and less visible. They will create a standardized supplier sourcing approach that identifies high quality and compliant products and suppliers against CPB€™s roadmap and stand-up mechanisms to bring those products into commercialization. They will explore global sourcing opportunities across NA, EU, and JP CPB to drive efficiencies between regions on international selection. The Principal Sourcing Manager will contribute to roadmap planning, supplier engagement across commercialization requirements and costs, supplier maintenance, packaging configurations, and supply chains.


This is a new and exciting role within NA CPB and the role will work closely with Product Managers, the commercialization team, and safety/compliance stakeholders. The right candidate will have the ability to work independently and deal with an ambiguous environment while creating and implementing the program€™s strategy. They will also set expectations with suppliers on Amazon requirements across supplier capability, costing, and development timing.


In this role, you will be responsible to:
· Develop a sourcing function within NA CPB to identify products and suppliers against CPB€™s roadmap
· Develop an international sourcing approach to identify suppliers and products across North America, Asia, and Europe to enable unique or lower cost offerings.
· Drive cost transparency with suppliers across their operations and product inputs (e.g., raw materials, packaging materials) during sourcing
· Source high quality consumables products across household, pet, personal care, baby, beauty, health, and wellness categories.
· Develop/maintain mastery of CPB commercialization and product development requirements and help suppliers navigate these requirements to eliminate downstream delays and defects during commercialization.
· Maintaining mastery in current best approaches (CBA) across consumables production and continuous improvement spaces.
· Developing sourcing metrics, measuring and reporting results, and leadership reviews

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· BS degree in business, engineering, or a related field
· 10+ years of experience in strategic sourcing or supply chain management
· Experience with program management, planning, supplier negotiations, pricing, supply chain management, international logistics, product compliance, product development, branding, and packaging
· Experience working on cross-functional technical teams to drive collaborative environment
· Consumables product development experience, including manufacturing and quality assurance expectations
· Effective communication across stakeholders and leadership with the ability to influence external stakeholders
· Excellent written and verbal skills as well as prioritization and planning skills
· Willingness to travel, including internationally (25%-50%)


Strong preference for this position to be in San Diego, CA but open to Santa Monica, CA. Relocation offered from within the US to either location.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

MBA or Masters in engineering, or a scientific field
· Demonstrated success in global sourcing in Consumables product types
· Experience in manufacturing of consumable goods
· Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
· Ability to work independently and without a playbook
· Experience in consumable private label products
· Strong strategic aptitude; proven ability to define the right business strategy and develop the product roadmap to deliver it
· Experience writing SQL, mining databases and data analytical tools such as Tableau, Power BI, etc.
· Multi-lingual
