Bring your passion and talent to our stage and continue to share our future and deliver innovative products to our consumers as a Principal Packaging Engineer in the Sports and Fitness BUs (Gatorade, Propel, Muscle Milk, Evolve, and Fast Twitch) Packaging team, part of Global Packaging & Engineering Technology group. Deliver package innovations and drive the development and execution of new and refreshed package forms across the range of packing materials and structures (bottles, closures, cartons, and flexible, etc.) used within the various production systems, in line with business unit strategies. Key Responsibilities: Actively manage new packaging development and initial commercialization to deliver Sports and Fitness BUs Packaging Innovation Strategy. Initiate and perform technical feasibility studies on new packaging platforms delivered through ideation. Actively participate in Marketing Insights and Marketing Research programs, including focus groups and other consumer research formats, to incorporate packaging requirements into plans. Provide Subject Matter Expertise in support of new Package Development and Commercialization. Develop a deep understanding of strategic packages, products, and processes to support the development of new packaging platforms and contribute to troubleshooting and problem-solving. Maintain, update, and create packaging specifications and protocols. Provide technical support for field issue resolution. Create development and initial commercialization timelines for all projects. Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills; Ability to influence cross-functional teams, in multiple locations; Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external partners. Qualifications/Requirements Critical Competencies: Broad knowledge package materials Analytical thinking Collaboration Intellectual curiosity Teamwork Project management skills Communication skills Packaging manufacturing processes Results-driven Innovative thinking Education & Experience: Required: BS in Packaging, Chemical, Mechanical, or Plastics Engineering required with 8+ years experience in related consumer goods field. Previous experience in the development and execution of complex packaging programs. Strong project management and communication skills. An effective leader in cross-functional project teams. Experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) manufacturing processes. Experience working with Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) or Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) companies. Preferred: Experience in manufacturing processes for beverages Experience with hot fill, cold fill, retort, and aseptic packaging Experience with both flexible and rigid packaging a plus Experience with various types of plastics forming with solid industry networks Strong track record of championing innovation within organizations Other Job Requirements: Travel mainly in North America, however international travel may be required to meet project and business objectives. 20-30% total. Occasional weekend travel is normal due to the time required to travel to certain locations.
