ADP is looking for a Principal Business Systems Analyst for the AutoPay Analysis and Design Team. In this particular role, the qualified candidate will focus on ensuring ongoing compliance with new and/or frequently changing statutory regulations at the Federal, State, and Local levels. You will work as part of a Product Development team to design solutions to satisfy user, business, and system needs to remain statutorily compliant, communicating the solutions via a formal documentation process. The Principal Business Systems Analyst will partner with Development and Statutory Research to validate understanding of the statutory requirements, understand current related system functionality, facilitate design decisions, present solutions, and evaluate impacts to ADPs Regional service areas, our Clients, and their employees. There may also be times in this role when you will be asked to lead analysis efforts for Product initiatives that are not necessarily driven by changes in statutory requirements; in this capacity, you would also partner with Product management and representatives from various ADP business segments and interfacing systems organizations.

This position can be worked remote from anywhere in the United States.

The candidate will be responsible for ownership of concurrent statutory assignments with varying deliverables and complexities impacting multiple states, local jurisdictions, or Federal components. Multi-tasking abilities are a must as well as the ability to perform in-depth analysis and document high level requirements, impacts, and detailed functional specifications. Other responsibilities may include communication of new feature deliverables to our field and production support organizations, conducting demos and participating in stakeholder reviews, as well as assuming the role of post-release Subject Matter Expert.

The qualified candidate requires a high level of proficiency managing at times very rapidly changing priorities, managing scope and elicitation of requirements to ensure precise compliance for new feature functionality and enhancements on a large payroll and reporting application with statutory compliance concentrations. This individual must possess extremely strong analytical skills, excellent communications skills, be self-motivated with the ability to work independently, strong leadership qualities (but also the ability to work well as part of a team), high technical aptitude, ability (and interest) in evaluating detailed statutory requirements from both a business and systems perspective. Must have a very strong knowledge of payroll especially in the more complex areas (most significantly the relationship between standard payroll calculations and the related output calculations on to quarterly and annual filings, remittances, and reports). The right candidate must have enthusiasm for mentorship and training, be very vocal in a positive/constructive way, be able to clearly explain complex issues/designs, be a strong team player, and must be able to defend team decisions, but also possess/use skills to negotiate when necessary. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running, understand the big picture, think on their feet, and conceptualize how changes can impact integrated systems, ADP business segments, and clients as well as their employees.

This individual would need the skill and capacity to understand and support the statutory work assigned to the rest of the team to assist in understanding intent of the statutory requirements in a payroll business, systems, and reporting context, help make design decisions, assist in prioritizing work based upon competing legislative deadlines, systems-related timing constraints, and volume of Region/Client impacts. The candidate must have the ability to at times (due to time constraints) step in to complete assignments of other less senior analysts to help ensure the team meets their delivery commitments. This individual will act as the first point of contact for analysis related issues and risks, and monitor the progress of all analysis assignments to ensure they are delivered on time and with quality.

In this position the Principal Business Systems Analyst is required to interface with both US and Canadian Major and National Accounts Business Partners in addition to the development and testing teams in the US and India. The candidate must display a high degree of collaboration and accountability; and be able to perform under tight deadlines within an aggressive release schedule. This position requires a candidate who can work in a fast-paced environment with multiple activities going on in parallel.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Create System Designs
  • Work with Statutory Research and Product Management Teams to understand necessary changes/requirements
  • Document project meetings, requirements and user stories with precision, clarity and efficiency
  • Manage assignments proactively in view of the satisfaction of all stakeholders
  • Demonstrate flexibility in meeting the changing needs and priorities of the projects and teams
  • Required to be available during peak/intense busy seasons such as yearend where paid time off is limited.
  • Review work/provide feedback for less senior members of the team
  • Assisting/teaming with other lead/principal analysts and management in strategizing viable solutions to more complicated/challenging statutory requirements.
  • Perform high level analysis of alternative solutions to assist management in the assignments/resource allocation

  • BS degree in an IT or Management discipline; or equivalent work experience
  • 10 years of strong analysis background with proven experience as a "hands-on" analyst on major initiatives with intricate business or statutory requirements
  • Payroll and Payroll Reporting experience either from a Service or Product perspective.
  • Technical ability to come up to speed quickly on the system's user interface and the agile development methodology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to support the ability to work with a remote project team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands on experience/extremely strong working knowledge of payroll, payroll processes, and payroll systems
