What Youll Do

The Network Services Business Unit (NSBU) is working to develop and drive a portfolio of competitive as-a-Services (aaS) and Consumption offers. The Sr. Portfolio Manager will be a key role in supporting the strategy and future vision of the NSBU by helping to drive the definition, enablement, and success of the portfolio. Specifically, this role will own management of the portfolio of aaS and Consumption. This role will drive the process for the selection, prioritization, and onboarding of new offers, establishing vital metrics to evaluate the success of these offers.

Requirements will vary as the team matures and executes on its mission therefore a successful candidate will have a had past product management, financial modeling, program management, and technology development experience, and a flexible nature to quickly execute on priorities.

By nature of this role significant and effective cross-organizational collaboration and alignment are required including coordinating the operational changes required in concert with all the supporting cross functional teams.

Pivotal responsibilities are:

  • Build trust and effective relationships with peers/cross-functional teams and drive alignment on vision, strategy, goals, status and customer impact
  • Develop knowledge of Ciscos current and future aaS and Consumption portfolio, in support of execution of the vision; maintain tight alignment with NSBU PMs, other BU PMs, Sales and GPO on offer packaging and Partner Strategy
  • Build a repeatable framework for onboarding offers and drive/evolve their readiness
  • Work with internal Product Managers to develop a framework to rationalize the pipeline of aaS and Consumption tenant offers with consumption use cases, and promptly onboard and enable them
  • Ensure the framework includes timely validation of customer/partner outcomes and experiences
  • Continuously review portfolio metrics through telemetry and feedback loops to improve the buying experience and performance
  • Rationalize what offers should be onboarded
  • Develop forecasting methodology to be able to price to risk
  • Use methodology to build proforma consumption usage curves
  • Monitor actual portfolio consumption compared to proforma usage curves, using data to predict gain/loss on portfolio
  • Recommend changes to prices and new deal underwriting based on vintage analysis and actual portfolio performance
  • Identify and raise problem deals (low consumption/utilization) and recommend action plans for deal restructuring or risk mitigation
  • Conduct quarterly portfolio review with cross-functional team
  • Manage portfolio economics and mid-term, end of term (EOT) pricing events (buyouts, upgrades, extensions, etc.)
  • Assist in deal underwriting to ensure deals meet portfolio objectives for underperforming deals
  • Develop technical and business knowledge as vital to meet evolving business requirements with a focus on continuous improvement

Who Youll Work With

Multiple business partners including NSBU and other BU Product Managers, Engineering, CX (Customer Experience & CX Cloud), IT, Operations, Legal, Finance, Sales, Partners, and Customers.

Who You Are

To ensure success the NSBU Sr. Portfolio Manager will possess:

  • 10+ years in Product Management delivery in a High Tech, multi-regional environment
  • Expertise in Design Thinking methodologies and working with UX
  • Solid knowledge of and experience executing against defined product management and development methodologies
  • Very strong Excel, analytical and research skills
  • Broad understanding of Ciscos Portfolio of products and services, customer base, and organizational structure
  • Capable of understanding a problem or business need, and can define the detailed offer to address the problem area, all while maintaining understanding of the organizations end-state vision
  • Ability to understand the complexity of how things work and simplify processes
  • Possess demonstrated business insight and can map that to product management execution
  • Proven flexibility with the ability to manage multiple and opposing priorities, and can work in a very fast-paced environment
