This new role with Cox Media will be responsible for leading our companys relationships with political campaigns, consultants and agencies, serving as political category SME across the Cox Media footprint, growing and supporting rigor in practices and processes around competitive monitoring and reporting, and coaching market selling teams to maximize opportunities. Reporting to the VP National and Political Sales, and as Director of our fastest growing line of business, you will have tremendous influence and latitude to drive innovation and best practices, and to further define the possibilities for this role and for our team.
*Core Responsibilities: *

* Develop and maintain database of national and state level campaign POCs in Cox Media footprint (consultant and agency)
* Own Upper Funnel Sales process, teeing up opportunity at political consultant and agency level (Digital and Data opportunities)
* In complement to Ampersand Washington DC sales leaders, call on state level campaign and party heads with Cox Media political specialist and/or Government Affairs Director
* Meet regularly with Ampersand Political team and ensure Cox Media voice is strong
* Provide communication, coordinate as-needed training and leadership to all political leads in their area of responsibility
* Influence budgeting and reforecasting process as the cycle progresses by providing intelligence around campaigns and activity that may alter revenue forecasts
* Work with markets and Legal to oversee compliance of FCC public file
* Perform regular spot checks on Cox Media files to identify any noncompliance and alert market for correction
* Monthly meetings with market political leads and VPs to review status and receive support on rate card update and process, inventory clearance, opportunity, revenue update
* Host Monthly call with market political sellers to organize the business and manage needs
* Craft monthly update on political landscape for distribution to the regions and company leadership
* Maintain political calendars, races and issues, competitiveness outlook by market/region
* Manage periodic political training sessions for CMI market teams
* Other key contributions as defined by you and your leader

* Bachelors Degree or equivalent
* Requires 5+ years related experience
*Additional Knowledge and Skills Required:*

* Customer focused with strong relationship-building skills
* Critical thinking and problem solving skills
* Existing relationships within the political campaign ecosystem
* Deep understanding of rules and regulations around political advertising
