:The PHP Primary Therapist assists in the bio-psychosocial assessment, case management and treatment of patients under the supervision of the Partial Hospitalization Clinical Supervisor. Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention, activities of daily living and communication with referral sources and families. Discharge planning, facilitate group therapy, facilitate family sessions, interagency meeting, maintain progress notes, group notes, develop treatment plans and treatment plan updates, and attend staff meeting, treatment team meetings and clinical supervision.:

:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to other partial and inpatient programs providing care to varied patient populations.

Education: Masters Degree in Psychology or related field.

Experience: One year experience working with a psychiatric patient population preferred. Age/population specific experience preferred.

Knowledge:

Prefer knowledge of group therapy theory and practice, group processes, therapeutic relationships processes, age specific growth and development, addictions issues, limit settings and behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors and CPR Training. Experience with evidence based training, trauma informed training, individual therapy and case management.

Job Specific Responsibilities:

1. Performs and appropriately documents a comprehensive psychosocial assessment on assigned PHP patient within required timeframe.

2. Documents and completes family meeting when indicated within three working days.

3. Actively participates in the development of the Master Treatment Plan by presenting pertinent information.

4. Develops realistic and measureable goals and desired outcomes. Incorporates patients and familys goals when appropriate.

5. Identifies appropriate therapeutic interventions based on assessment, identified issues, discharge plan and estimated length of stay.

6. Participates in ongoing reassessment of the PHP patient and incorporates changes in treatment plan revisions.

7. Documents in progress notes the patients progress towards treatment goals.

8. Assumes responsibility in coordinating the discharge and continuing care plans.

9. Facilitates group sessions as assigned.

10. Designs, reviews and revises programming to provide comprehensive delivery of age-appropriate services.

11. Understands and demonstrates the core elements of group facilitation.

12. Provides ongoing patient/family education.

13. Works together with Child/Adolescent Social Workers to consider step-downs to our Partial Program under the continuum of care.

14. Reacts in supportive, coordinated way with other team members during crisis situations.

15. Attends all staff meetings and completes annual trainings.

16. Adheres to the Mission and Values of the facility.

Environmental Conditions:

Exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids and other hazardous waste. General hospital environment.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Physical agility to manage patients. Push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping. Drug and alcohol free as evidenced by negative results of post-offer, pre-employment urine drug screen.
