As a pharmacist on the Clinical and Pharmacy Operations team, you will perform various duties as it relates to therapy assessment, care planning and departmental communications to streamline efficiencies across the department.

 

Primary Responsibilities:
 
  • Supervises, schedules, and evaluates all clinical and supportive pharmacy personnel as it relates to the clinical services provided, including sterile compounding, dispensing, inventory control, purchasing and delivery.
  • Ensures that all pharmacy operations, practices and procedures meet all licensing and standards requirements established by local, state and federal agencies as well as accrediting bodies. Maintains and monitors that all of the above remain active.
  • Maintains clinical skills and knowledge of pharmacotherapy and intravenous therapy by reviewing the literature and attending in-services, seminars and conferences. Coordinates branch in-services regularly, utilizing manufacture contacts s/he maintains.
  • Oversees in the procurement of drugs, supplies and equipment used in preparing and administering drugs.
  • Oversees the clinical services offered by the branch as they're related to both infusion, AIS, and/or specialty services provided.
  • Ensures compliance and current licensure with all controlled substances related rules, regulations and Company policies. Maintains proper communication and coordination with other departments and staff
  • Develops and participates in educational programs for the company and ensures staff is current on relative therapies, protocols and competencies.
  • Will temporarily assume the role of the leader for the operation of the branch in the temporary absence of the General/Branch manager and director of nursing.
  • Prepares justification for additional personnel, equipment, and programs.
  • Develops policies and procedures and assures compliance thereof.
  • Leads or assists branch Quality Management/Performance Improvement Program (minimum 10% of position responsibility)
    • Reviews data for quality/performance improvement measures
    • Analyzes data reports, identifying opportunities for imporvement
    • Coordinates branch PIP quartarly meetings to:
      • Communicate quality activities and data review to branch
      • Implement quality action plans to branch
    • Participates in corporate quality/performance meetings
    • Executes results of action plans to achieve desired performance
  • Provides orientation to new pharmacy employees to pharmacy procedures and services as required.
  • Responsible for all aspects of Pharmacy licensure, as required by the multiple states in which the branch is licensed.
  • Oversight including compliance to and education for all accreditation and licensure programs.
  • Monitors for compliance with all HIPAA regulations, adherence to all State and Federal regulations and laws, accrediting bodies, adherence to all infusion pharmacy accepted standards of practice, responsible for handling complaints and/or grievance programs. 
  • Monitors compliance with all manufacturer requirements as it applies to FDA REMS program requirements.
  • Provide oversight of the safety, appropriateness, and effectiveness of the pharmaceutical care provided to patients (consumers) as it relates to specialty products dispensed.
