What you can expect over the summer:
The PepsiCo Communications Internship aims to provide a well-rounded experience through a variety of assignments involving various components of the companys day-to-day communication function. The Communications internship will support Frito-Lay North America, PepsiCos $17 billion convenient foods division comprised of iconic brands such as Doritos, Cheetos, Lays, Ruffles and Tostitos.

The PepsiCo Communications Intern role is based in Plano, TX.

Responsibilities include:

  • Write and edit communications for a variety of internal and external audiences and channels, including press, social media and employees
  • Support Frito-Lay communications efforts through research and analysis assignments
  • Monitor media coverage and analyze stories for tone, messaging and company/brand positioning
  • Support internal employee events, such as leadership meetings, Town Hall meetings, etc.
  • Support the teams measurement and reporting of communications efforts
  • Track employee volunteer hours and support local community relations efforts
  • Complete a long-term project assignment that requires research and planning and present final project to Frito-Lay communications team at completion of internship; and/ or, help team lead the seasonal news bureau plan working with external agency
  • Support digital communications team with social media content strategy and community management across all @FritoLay channels

Intern Projects:
  • Digital: This intern will help the Social Media Associate Manager identify, conceptualize and design social media community management campaigns to boost engagement, educate and inform our consumers about Frito-Lay and our wide selection of snacks, and create opportunities to surprise + delight consumers. Throughout the internship, the intern will help create content calendars, monitor social media channels and support content campaign efforts.
  • Internal Communications: This intern will support employee engagement through story creation and community management across our internal channels, including internal CMS and support communications on Yammer. The intern will assist with multiple internal communications projects, including the Frito-Lay Ambassadors program, video and photography creation for internal story/awareness purposes, article and newsletter writing and more. The intern will also develop an employee engagement campaign focused on summer snacking, with the goal to launch and manage from end-to-end.
  • External Communications: This intern will help promote and protect Frito-Lays reputation through a variety of PR initiatives, including media relations, community relations and thought leadership. Some of your job duties include: liaise with PR agency on press/media content, participate in editorial brainstorms, research, write and assist with the analysis and reporting of media coverage.

Qualifications/Requirements

Minimum Qualifications - Each candidate is expected to:

  • Currently enrolled at a University and pursuing a Bachelors degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, or similar field
  • Be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future work authorization or visa sponsorship for employment
