TheOptum Leadership Experience (OLE)provides select participants pursing advanced degrees with superior, cohort-based exposure, experiences and development opportunities through a portfolio of best-in-class intern and full-time programs:

  • Corporate Leader Program (CLP)
  • Optum Product Program (OPP)
  • Launch Leadership Program (LLP)
  • OAS - Advisory Consulting Track (ACT)

Each program is specifically designed to develop the next generation of corporate, product, consulting and care delivery leaders, and all require highly motivated, passionate individuals with bright ideas and the will to lead.

  • TheCorporate Leader Program (CLP)andOptum Product Program (OPP)internship is based in Eden Prairie, MN with full-time placement opportunities post-MBA in Eden Prairie, MN or Boston, MA. These programs are 24-months and tailored to MBAs. They offer graduates three, eight-month rotations through the areas of Optum corporate (e.g. strategy & transformation, operations, customer office, finance, marketing etc.) and product (OptumHealth, OptumRx, OptumInsight), respectively
CLProtation examples:
  • Develop a standard, repeatable process to gather, synthesize and analyze market sizing and competitive data across key market segments (payers, providers, government, consumers, etc.) at both the product segment and product line levels.
  • Drive initiatives and support teams within each key area of corporate finance, pricing and capital. Deliverables include a long-range strategic plan, annual business plan, earnings release support, quarterly forecasting, product line profitability, etc.
OPProtation examples:

LLPproject examples:
    • Defining care pathways for patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) / End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), including identifying subpopulations, interventions and outcome metrics
    • Leading urgent care coding and wait time reduction analysis
    • Recommending family caregiver strategies through analyzing existing research, establishing program benchmarks and evaluating current models
    • Developing improvement strategies for managing high-risk populations
    • Drafting a holistic market strategy for growth (media buy, outdoor / tv / radio, prospect list buy, agency and health plan relationships) and retention (our existing members, conversion)
    • Creating a program to address provider concerns about using digital capabilities via industry literature review, interviews and pilot testing
  • TheOAS - Advisory Consulting Track (ACT)internship is located in Eden Prairie, MN; however, there are full-time placement opportunities post-graduate degree in Eden Prairie, MN, Franklin, TN or Washington DC. It is a 24-month consulting development program that is tailored to graduate candidates with previous work experience and interest in healthcare consulting. They offer graduates three, eight-month rotations through the areas of Optum Advisory Services (Payer Practice including risk management & growth, health management & operations, government programs, payer technology; Provider Practice including cost, revenue management, enterprise services, provider technology; Analytics Practice; Strategy Practice). Rotational opportunities are provided in the payer and provider businesses in specific geographies. These rotations give the participant the ability to experience various areas of OAS and help influence final post-program placement within OAS

During your program experience, you will:
  • Lead high-priority work that supports your respective program track

Required Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree
  • Currently pursuing an MBA or relevant graduate degree with a target graduation date no later than July 2022
  • Minimumthree years of previous professional work experience
  • Minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization(F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiringH-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered)
  • You will be asked to perform this role in an office setting, however, may be required to work from home temporarily due to space limitations
  • Employees are required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener prior to entering the work site each day, in order to keep our work sites safe. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders.
