Sodexo Energy & Resources is seeking to add a qualified Facilities Engineering / Operations Manager 1 Multi-Service at one of our largest and most prestigious accounts for a premier Global Energy producer at new account in Bakersfield, California.


The Operations Manager manages the Facilities Hard Services, including Engineering, Operations & Maintenance, and Vendor Management. The role includes the responsibility to safely and efficiently deliver these day-to-day services, whether self-performed or managing vendors. The successful candidate will also be professionally responsible for the proper installation, operation and maintenance of uninterrupted light, heat, power, water, and monitoring systems for buildings and services. Sodexo has a strong safety culture; all candidates will be expected to be Safety Leaders. The facilities are in a refinery, including some outlying buildings; the ideal candidate will have refinery experience.


Our preferred candidates will have successfully demonstrated knowledge in:

  • all aspects of facilities management including plant and building operations and maintenance to include knowledge of HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing
  • OSHA and Life Safety requirements
  • managing contract and financial commitments.
  • managing and leading a team of professionals in continuous pursuit of excellence
  • training staff involved in the use or maintenance of equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • fostering employee and client relationships
  • regulatory, technical, and safety standards.
  • maintaining dual budget processes
  • executing engineering projects as assigned to meet technical, budget and schedule goals.
  • managing a CMMS systems and processes to ensure 100% reliability of systems;
  • preparing and/or reviewing operation, safety, and maintenance procedures to ensure accuracy and completeness;
  • ability to interact well with peers and senior personnel in scientific, engineering, and operational disciplines.
  • ability to work as a member on cross-functional and self-directed work teams; and/or
  • knowledge of reliability engineering and continuous improvement concepts desired.

Position Summary

Provides supervision of two or more core services at a client site to ensure client satisfaction and retention. Implements strategies to meet Client and Company objectives and achieve profitable growth. Ensures high customer satisfaction through developing team members and delivering quality services.

Key Duties- Directs daily operation of two or more core services at a site to ensure employees have appropriate equipment and resources to perform their jobs and meet goals and deadlines.

- Supervises day-to-day work activities by delegating authority, assigning and prioritizing activities and monitoring operating standards.

- Assists in the development of new business service(s) for the client and implements the service program(s).

- Establishes a safe work environment for employees by providing safety-related training and equipment maintenance and by ensuring compliance with Sodexo safety and loss prevention programs and with standards and procedures for the handling and storage of hazardous materials and/or waste and complies with all government regulations.

- Manages the budget by controlling costs (e.g. labor, inventory, equipment, materials), complying with budget requirements and making adjustments when necessary.

- Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to employees.

- Promotes and supports workplace diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience

Basic Management Experience - 3 years   

Basic Functional Experience - 3 years work experience in facilities (e.g., maintenance, plant operations, engineering services, grounds, custodial/environmental, or transportation) or food (e.g., food services or operations, concessions, retail sales, store operations, or vending) servicesSodexo is an EEO/AA/Minority/Female/Disability/Veteran employer.
