Sodexo is seeking a Site Operations Manager Offsite Food Production for our new 13,000sf food manufacturing facility located in Billerica, MA.

The Site Operations Manager will be responsible for daily fresh food manufacturing operations and production-related activities, delivering the daily production plan while continuously improving site processes. The site consists of a production kitchen for large batch production, multiple chilled prep rooms for produce, WIP and protein production and a chilled high-care packaging room. This hands-on position is responsible for start-up operations at the site and will be instrumental in defining and implementing operational SOPs to foster an environment of continuous improvement and allow us to open additional sites quickly and efficiently. This role will direct, coach and mentor staff to develop methods to best meet production goals in addition to making processes more efficient. Ensures full compliance with all State and Federal agency regulated Health, Food Safety and Safety codes.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establish strategic plans for manufacturing covering capacity planning, infrastructure requirements, cost containment, labor management and initiatives required for continuous improvement.
  • Create and manage best practices with a strong emphasis on production efficiencies, food safety, compliance and asset utilization; ensure the development of systems and procedures for operating and managing the facility.
  • Drives a culture of continuous improvement and oversee all aspects of P&L, site management, logistics, staff training and development.
  • Responsible for monitoring food and production costs, pricing, portion controls, quality assurance and controls.
  • Ensure food safety program, HACCP Forms training and compliance as well as daily waste tracking.
  • Develop SOPs and ensure team follows all recipes. Ensures procedures are followed for ordering, receiving, storing, and packaging.
  • Manages the health, sanitation, and safety regulations pertaining to the handling and storage of foods and the operation of food processing facilities and equipment. Ensures the proper use and care of equipment used in large-scale food operations.
  • Direct and complete audits as needed and make recommendations to optimize financial performance or operational standards. Holds the team accountable for results.
  • Use technology, data and rigorous business analysis and critical path strategies to enhance effectiveness, improve efficiencies and margins.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience directing Operations of a chilled food manufacturing facility or industrial kitchen environment
  • Experience in pre-opening and startup operations for food manufacturing facility
  • Production of fresh food across multiple categories- sandwiches, salads, wraps, parfaits, grain bowls, snack boxes and others
  • Experience in FDA/USDA monitored environments and/or GFSI experience
  • Understanding of various cooking, prepping and packaging techniques
  • Broad knowledge of standards of manufacturing technology, equipment, food safety, organizational development/management, finance and employee relations
  • Lean Six Sigma, Project Management, Process Improvement certification preferred
  • Knowledge of end-to-end production software, food safety systems, supply chain and logistics systems. Ability to introduce new systems and functionality as business needs change.
  • Multi-unit experience preferred or demonstrated advancement at single site
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, motivational, analytical, and strategic thinking skills
  • A successful track record of being able to establish and achieve performance goals and objectives for safety, quality, cost control, manufacturing efficiency, process development and staff retention
  • Food contract service experience a plus
  • A proven track record of successful hiring, building, motivating, training, and developing solid teams
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and ability to motivate, inspire and positively communicate goals and objectives
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and quick problem-solving
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, especially a firm understanding of Excel, ERP and/or CRM systems to compile detailed analytics, presentations, project and plans
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and acceptance of diversity
  • Results-driven, strategic with the ability to execute plans successfully and efficiently
  • Leadership in a union environment
  • Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

The site consists of a production facility for large batch food processing and preparation, multiple chilled-environment prep rooms for produce, work-in-progress (WIP) and protein production and a chilled-environment high-care packaging room. This hands-on position is responsible for start-up operations at the site and will be instrumental in defining and implementing operational SOPs to foster an environment of continuous improvement and allow us to open additional sites quickly and efficiently. The successful candidate will thrive in an ambiguous environment, leading the team from initial pre-opening of the site through a rapid expansion of size, capabilities and output. The role will direct, coach and mentor staff to develop methods to best meet production goals in addition to making processes more efficient. Ensures full compliance with all State and Federal agency regulated Health, Food Safety and Safety codes.

 

Responsible to:

 

·      Bring to life information which will inform our senior leaders, which our commercial teams can understand and use, and which our customers find compelling. To map, catalogue, maintain and manage all relevant insight sources within the organisation. To support operations with operational and customer dashboards, and to ensure that the account based QBR process leverages both internal and external data to present our activities in an appropriate light to our customers.

  Â·       Manage, expand and improve the data sets we currently have, covering the US healthcare market from a variety of different perspectives, support individual product/service offerings, manage our go to market process, and capture/analyse key operational metrics. To create appropriate links between these data sets and other operational systems within the business particularly salesforce in an intelligent way: leveraging the knowledge we have whilst maintaining the integrity of the data and maintaining appropriate security.

 

 Â·       Use a range of techniques for analysing data and disseminating findings, ensuring that insights are presented in a way understandable to non-technical audiences: highlighting the strategic and tactical consequences of the analysis and insight. To deliver data and insight relationships with external partners. To ensure that the data analytics team has the appropriate skill sets, and to leverage wider corporate resources to ensure segment receives an appropriate share of resources.

 Â·       Devise and deliver powerful thought leadership in areas identified as important to the business: supporting existing and potential product / services lines, existing and potential customers/partners. To provide input into the development of new sources of insight, through new applications or extracting data from current systems. Guide development so Sodexo can extract the maximum insight benefit.

  Â·       Support sales and business development activities with specific pieces of insight work, helping the business create well evidenced and compelling value propositions for high value opportunities or markets. To support customer retention processes, aggregating data, looking for insights, developing common threads/threats and ensuring they are communicated/understood. To support product marketing activities from research through to pricing through to lead generation/qualification.

 

 

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelors Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience

Basic Management Experience - 5 years 

Basic Functional Experience - 5 years
