Investing isnt just for venture capitalists and M&A is not just for Corporate Development. As a Strategic Business Development Manager in our New Growth Organization, youll combine the best of intrapreneurship, investing and corporate development to help Cox Communications drive growth through strategic partnerships. The New Growth & Development organization is focused on identifying and analyzing areas of future growth and plans to achieve sustained and balancedgrowth across the enterprise. The organization works to answer "whats next" for Cox and our customers. We develop growth hypotheses and test those hypothesesthrough1) skunkworks,2) investmentsin new businesses,3) traditional R&D,4) strategic partnerships,and 5) exploration ofemerging businesses. Growth opportunities are currently being incubated across a variety of adjacent business and technology sectors includingbut not limited toHealthcare, Commercial IOT, Energy,andEdge Computing.

*What Youll Do*
Curating relationships with CEOs, venture capital firms, and industry experts is more than just networking, this role will invite you to bring a myriad of skills to the table ... or coffee shop ... or desk.

This role is responsible forthe strategic business developmentofnew sources of growth at Cox Communications. You will identify high-potential companies and opportunities based on both signals ("whats trending?") and theses ("what do we believe will happen in a specific market?"). In addition, you will contribute to the diligence anddecisionmakingprocess, collaborate with the rest of the New Growth and Corporate Development team, the Mergers & Acquisitions team and interact with our portfolio of partner companies to ensure the success of our partnerships, investments, and acquisitions.

This role will be responsible for supporting the Director of IoT Strategic Business Development in the following daily duties:

* Find interesting companies and projects: Build and continuously update a set of companies to meet and projects to follow based on qualitative and quantitative signals, market theses, and a network of key relationships

* Evaluate prospective partnerships and investments: Assist in diligence efforts for specific companies we are considering partnering with or investing in, or an entire category of startups we are evaluating

* Capture key assumptions and critical uncertainties during pitches, checking references, analyzing metrics (in concert with our M&A team), creating market maps, and other tasks related to evaluating a potential investment

* Conduct due diligence, including financial assessments, analysis of go-to-market strategies, and competitive landscape

* Support business development function with external partners - targeting potential new business partnerships and alliances to work with Cox New Growth & Development teams on building adjacent growth opportunities.

* Build and develop materials for executive presentations

* Support board responsibilities for relevant investment portfolio companies

* Program manage various workstreams, communication and stakeholders across related efforts

Qualifications: *Who you are:*

* 4-5+years related experiencein business development, investment banking or consulting/strategy disciplinesor combination

* "Do-er" that can help translate ideas into actionable content. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and execute tactically to develop inorganic theses that support our strategic vision

* Inquisitive mindset, ability to learn new facts and concepts quickly and comprehensively, and to synthesize and communicate effectively to others in both verbal and written forms

* Ability to operate independently to navigate tight deadlines, juggle a long list of competing priorities, and operate in a dynamic environment without compromising sharp attention to detail

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills,in addition to excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Strong and demonstrable project/processmanagement experience and large team facilitation skills


* MBAor equivalent

* Experienceinventurecapital,privateequityor high-tech

* Experience in start-up businesses and/or end-to-end new product development experience, with entrepreneurial spirit

* Proven ability to structure and negotiate complex business agreements addressing technology, operational, intellectual property, and policy matters

* Business AND technical understanding and working knowledge of the cable /communication industry, systems, and networks, as well as current and emerging technologies such as Internet of Things and standards is very beneficial
