The New Growth & Development organization is focused on identifying and analyzing areas of future growth and plans to achieve sustained and balancedgrowth across the enterprise. *Role Summary*


The New Growth & Development organization is focused on identifying and analyzing areas of future growth and plans to achieve sustained and balancedgrowth across the enterprise. The organization works to answer "whats next" for Cox and our customers. We develop growth hypotheses and test those hypothesesthrough1) skunkworks,2) investmentsin new businesses,3) traditional R&D,4) strategic partnerships,and 5) exploration ofemerging businesses. Growth opportunities are currently being incubated across a variety of adjacent business and technology sectors includingbut not limited toHealthcare, Commercial IOT, Energy,andEdge Computing.





This role is responsible forthe strategic business developmentofnew sources of growth for the company while building industry leading competencies, approaches, andprocesses to make that a recurringcapability. In this role, you will identify high-potential companies and opportunities based on both signals ("whats trending?") and theses ("what do we believe will happen in a specific market?"). In addition, you will contribute to the diligence anddecision-makingprocess, collaborate with the rest of the New Growth and Corporate Development team, and interact with our portfolio companies to ensure the success of our partnerships and investments.





This role will be responsible for supporting the Director of IoT Strategic Business Development in the following tasks:

Identify and assess development, investment, and partnership opportunities



*
Support business development function with external partners - targeting potential new business partnerships and alliances to work with Cox New Growth & Development teams on building adjacent growth opportunities.



*
Using frameworks for evaluating acquisition strategies for specific IoT verticals, including target segments, capabilities, and strategic control points



*
Creating market maps for new verticals



*
Conduct due diligence, manage partnership negotiations, and oversee external relationships



*
Focusing on results and collaborating cross functionally, this leader willbe responsible forbringing new growth opportunities to fruitionthrough partnerships



*
Perform on-going analysis of trends & conduct broad strategic assessment of growth initiatives for CCIsNewGrowthteam to incubate



*
Identify and evaluate new growth opportunities



*
Develop business, financial, and operational plans for new business opportunities



*
Develop and defend conviction for given theme areas and business models



*
Establish and maintain New Growth and Development partnership role with Cox stakeholders and Cox Enterprise executives



*
Support board responsibilities for relevant investment portfolio companies



*
Program managing various workstreams, communication and stakeholders across related efforts








*Responsibilities:*

Market analysis



*
Identifyand assess relevant success/performancemetrics, develop predictions about how specific markets are evolving, and track activity in the industry ecosystem



*
Ad hoc research: Perform business and technology research on markets, companies, and trends in growth verticals that Cox is interested in



*
Support the process to analyzeemerging and adjacent market, product, competitive, and technology trends toidentify new growth opportunities



*
Partnership evaluation



*
Lead the business development effort to identify new growth initiativesand partnerswithwhich to develop new business initiatives for the company



*
Find interesting companies and projects: Build and continuously update a set of companies to meet and projects to follow based on qualitative and quantitative signals, market theses, and a network of key relationships



*
Evaluate prospective investments: Assist in diligence efforts for specific companies we are considering investing in, or an entire category of startups we are evaluating



*
Capture key assumptions and critical uncertainties during pitches, checking references, analyzing metrics (in concert with our M&A team), creating market maps, and other tasks related to evaluating a potential investment



*
Develop and maintain the portfolio(s) of adjacent growth opportunities driving towards revenue opportunities



*
Process management & other



*
Cultivate a network of subject matter experts: Nurture and maintain relationships with influential people to both source deals as well as solicit expert input on a given topic. This could include prominent executives and operators working in growth verticals as well as academic researchers focused on a specific technology



*
Provide leadership in developing Coxs alliances, partnerships, and industry relationships to maintain Coxs position as a respected thought leader in the industry and understand and articulate trends and implications for our business



*
Define, implement, and manage a new growth process to identify, evaluate, build, and launch new opportunities through the product innovation pipeline



*
Support board responsibilities for relevant investment portfolio companies






















Qualifications: *Minimum:*




*
5+years related experiencein business development, investment banking or consulting/strategy disciplinesor combination thereof



*
"Do-er" that can help translate ideas into actionable content for the organization to react to. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and execute tactically to develop inorganic theses that support our strategic vision



*
Genuine intellectual curiosity, ability to learn new facts and concepts quickly and comprehensively, and to synthesize and communicate effectively to others in both verbal and written forms



*
Ability to operate independently to navigate tight deadlines, juggle a long list of competing priorities, and operate in a dynamic environment without compromising sharp attention to detail



*
Intellectual horsepower, desire and proven ability to learn new domains and technologies quickly, energetic "can-do" attitude and commitment to excellence

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills,in addition to excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong and demonstrable project/processmanagement experience and large team facilitation skills

Proven ability to structure and negotiate complex business agreements addressing technology, operational, intellectual property, and policy matters

Business AND technical understanding and working knowledge of the cable /communication industry, systems, and networks, as well as current and emerging technologies such as Internet of Things and standards is very beneficial
