Perspecta has an immediate/upcoming need for a Network Engineer Specialist inWashington, DC.

Perspecta is currently conducting interviews to make contingent offers for an exciting potential new customer, the Department of Labor (DOL). Candidates with a current Public Trust clearance, and all other qualified personnel are encouraged to apply for immediate consideration. The customer states that employees working under this task order shall be United States Citizens or legal permanent residents (i.e.: "Green Card Holders").

Under general direction, applies specialized knowledge in a systems network infrastructure discipline to conceptualize, design, construct, test, implement and optimize network infrastructure systems that enable and support business and/or engineering/manufacturing functions. Interacts with the customer and Perspecta team to gain an understanding of the business environment, technical context and organizational strategic direction. Defines scope, plans and deliverables for assigned projects. Collects, identifies, defines and organizes detailed user and systems requirements. Coordinates and collaborates with others to ensure plans and identified solutions meet customer needs and expectations. Confirms and prioritizes project plans and deliverables with the customer. Conceptualizes, constructs, tests and implements integrated network, hardware and software solutions, distributed computing solutions, and/or physical and logical communications networks for the customer; architects client/server solutions and environments. Creates and maintains network interfaces and/or designs. Monitors performance and analyzes statistics to identify and resolve system network infrastructure. Establishes and maintains security, integrity and business continuity controls and documents. Participates in special system infrastructure projects.


Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's Degree with 5 years relevant experience OR Associate's Degree with 7 years relevant experience OR 9 years of minimum of relevant experience.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Advanced networking experience including Firewalls, Cisco layer 2/3, VLANs, ACLs, LACP.
  • Windows Active Directory Systems Administrator or Engineer.
  • Experience with planning, design and implementation of system network engineering projects designed for a data contingency or disaster recovery plan.
  • Experience with installation, configuration, upgrade and enhancements to software/hardware/network systems.
  • Able to conduct analysis on future network needs.
  • Able to work hand-in-hand and in partnership with a managed services WAN and Internet provider for circuit ordering, provisioning, activations, upgrades, maintenance and management.
  • Experience with and able to prepare and handle financials for all managed services provider costs including existing labor and circuit inventory cost as well as projections based on upcoming projects, bandwidth requirements, and initiatives.
  • Experience maintaining and adjusting data routing schemes, including development and execution of Continuity of Operations (COOP) plans in the event of full or partial communication loss at one or multiple sites.
  • Able to monitor event logs and any alerts generated by intelligent network monitoring systems and taking immediate remediation action when an issue is discovered.
  • Able to develop and implement Access Control Lists with the appropriate documentation to support a least privileged approach to access security.
  • Support the Information Assurance Teams with annual audits, vulnerability scans, testing, and vulnerability remediation/compliance ncluding the creation and remediation of Plan of Action and Milestones (POAMS).
  • Provide Tier 3 Technical Support for the Enterprise Service Desk and Data Calls as applicable.
  • Aissisting the Information Assurance team in the implementation of effective, streamlined, and all-inclusive network perimeter defense including but not limited to Intrusion Detection System/ Intrusion Prevention System (IDS/IPS), Anti Malware, URL and Content Filtering, firewall security, and VPN Access, as well as any other requirements identified by the Information Assurance team, OMB, or DHS.
  • Provide Life Cycle Management support of all LAN/WAN/Network Infrastructure and Equipment including upgrades, new installs, replacements, and adding functionality when applicable.
  • An Active Public Trust or the ability to obtain a clearance.
