The Small Business Specialty Benefits Sales Director will play a strategic role in the distribution of all small business specialty products and services across UHC internal and external distribution channels. The primary responsibility is the execution of sales and distribution strategies that will drive profitable revenue expansion in the regions and markets. The position will report into the National Vice President of Specialty Benefits for Small Group.

    ""
  • Execute on annual business plan to meet Small Business membership, penetration, retention, revenue and profitability objectives
  • ""
  • Develop competitive strategies to facilitate the execution of all specialty products sales goals
  • ""
  • Develop key external relationships to facilitate results
  • ""
  • Execute on growth objectives with key national broker partners
  • ""
  • Execute on growth objectives with key tech broker partners
  • ""
  • Execute on growth objectives with key General Agency partners
  • ""
  • Understand and create a strategy based on analysis and reporting of sales and market trends; including sales plan execution, competitive intelligence and new product requirements
  • ""
  • Establish effective partnerships within UnitedHealthcare that maximize the small business opportunity
  • ""
  • Collaborate with the product organization and other functional organizations in the development and enhancement of current products, services and customer offerings
  • ""
  • Be the subject matter expert to ensure all sales teams and distribution outlets are fully competent and trained appropriately to sell specialty products
  • ""
  • Implement best practices based on regional and local market conditions
  • ""
  • Work collaboratively with Sales Operations to Streamline small business quoting and onboarding tools (SAM, Solaris, Specialty Quick Quote, Strategic Platform, etc.)
  • ""
  • Conduct in-depth presentations in the market
  • ""
  • Possesses expert consultative skills
  • ""
  • Requires clear consistent communication to reach the goals of the organization
  • ""
  • Competitive intelligence: Monitor, identify trends and create actions plans to address

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • ""
  • 5+ years of experience in full-range of specialty products
  • ""
  • 5+ years of work experience at an executive level with strong professional contacts and a command of specialty issues and products
  • ""
  • Proven negotiation skills; the ability to gain acceptance from others of a plan or idea and achieve a mutually beneficial outcome
  • ""
  • Proven ability to systematically analyze problems, draw relevant conclusions and devise appropriate courses of action
  • ""
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, strong financial acumen with experience in measurement, data analysis and interpretation
  • ""
  • Solid knowledge of all products sold in market segment, including competitive products
  • ""
  • Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding sales goals
  • ""
  • Existing broker and / or consultant relationships in the marketplace
  • ""
  • Travel
  • ""
