SandyPines is a149 bed Residential Psychiatric Facility servicing children and adolescents ages 5 to 17. The facility is located in beautiful sub-tropical South Florida and is nestled beside Jonathan Dickinson Sate Park which creates a rustic, roomy outdoor atmosphere. SandyPines is at the county line of both Palm Beach and Martin Counties and is just minutes away from the shores of the Atlantic Ocean.

The Mental Health Technician is an entry level position for someone with minimal psychiatric experience. The MHT will assist in the delivery of patient care as a treatment team member.

This position is PRN - as needed. Self-scheduling. 12-hour shifts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Effectively completes delegated resident care (e.g.: vital signs, weights, heights, specimen collection, ADLs).
  • Effectively supervises residents while in SandyPines and on transports, outings, medical appointments, and other activities; at the frequency and intensity required by MD order and treatment plan.
  • Establishes rapport and utilizes therapeutic communication skills and appropriate boundaries with all residents, with special focus on primary residents.
  • Effectively facilitates and documents BLS groups, community meetings and other groups as needed.
  • Understands impact of mental illness, developmental delays and trauma on resident behavior and provides care accordingly.

Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required; Bachelors Degree preferred
  • 1-2 years experience with children and adolescents required; Experience with residential treatment preferred
  • Detail oriented and ability to successfully multi task in a fast pace environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent customer service and organization skills
  • Highly effective listening skills
