The Manager, Strategy and Operations position manages a diverse set of division-wide responsibilities, projects, and initiatives aimed at furthering the business objectives of the Research Solutions business, with a particular focus on revenue growth and associate management. We are seeking an individual with an interest in staff management, training, process management, campaign leadership, and business strategy to join this fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Some of the specific responsibilities are listed below, though responsibilities may vary across the year as the Strategy and Operations team responds to evolving business needs of the department.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Business Strategy and Metrics Achievement
    • Lead a team of Solutions Sales Associates to consistently meet and exceed monthly new product presentation and pipeline generation goals 
    • Understand and convey importance of visit quality as key driver of successful sales conversion 
    • Work closely with business leaders and Research program experts to set strategy, identify problem areas, and craft varied and creative campaigns and incentives to meet targets
  • Recruitment and Onboarding
    • Interview and identify Solutions Sales Associate talent throughout the year to maintain robust staffing levels and a strong candidate pipeline 
    • Work with Talent Acquisition and department leadership on recruitment plans, staff planning, and team placement
    • Oversee and contribute to the successful on-boarding and training of new Solutions Sales Associates including key job functions, team integration, professionalism and Optum culture
  • Staff Management
    • Work closely with department managers and leadership to manage a team of 10-12 Solutions Sales Associates
    • Own performance management for Associate team, including performance review preparation and delivery, guiding Individual Development Plans, and running Corrective Action Plans
    • Participate in and/or lead Associate-specific projects and initiatives focused on recognition, engagement, career development, and optimization of role
    • Coach Associates on key performance objectives; must be comfortable delivering feedback and navigating difficult conversations
