The Manager, GES Privacy Program is engaged in the maintenance of the Companys privacy responsibilities within the GES organization, supporting the FM, GES, and Human Resources organizations.  The individual will lead the projects and processes around the collection, use, storage and disposal of Personal Information within these corporate functions and will help to educate them on privacy compliance risks and privacy risk management.  This role represents the first line of defense function for activities related to the implementation of and adherence to privacy policies, procedures, standards and requirements within the corporate function. 


The Manager will report to the VP responsible for the Privacy Program within GES.


Key Responsibilities: 


Help the business/corporate function adhere to the Privacy Program, the HIPAA Program (if applicable), and any local or business-specific privacy requirements

  • Ensure that the business/corporate function maintains an inventory that identifies all systems, business processes, share drives and other repositories, and third parties, where sensitive personal information is used, stored or accessed

  • Manage the annual privacy risk self-assessment process; conduct privacy impact assessments as required within the business/corporate function; and conduct other privacy assessments as needed (e.g., HIPAA privacy assessments), all with an eye to ensuring that appropriate controls are in place to mitigate privacy risks within the business/corporate function

  • Enable the business/corporate function to identify, investigate and remediate privacy incidents (including privacy breaches) in a timely manner consistent with legal requirements

  • Report on privacy incidents, operational risk events relating to privacy and key risk indicators occurring within the business/corporate function, and identity and follow up on privacy issues and action plans with an eye to closing incidents and issues in a timely manner

  • Utilize educational tools including training and awareness sessions to reinforce strong privacy protection practices within the business/corporate function

  • Manage plans within the business/corporate function to improve its privacy program and overall protection of personal information

  • Provide updates to senior leaders and Risk Committees as to the state of the privacy function within the business/corporate function, at least annually

  • Participate in continued privacy education





  • 5 years business or risk management related experience

  • 2-5 years of privacy experience in one or more of the various privacy disciplines (e.g., policy, compliance, information security, operational risk management)

  • Working knowledge of privacy laws and regulations and privacy risks

  • Good project management skills with the ability to manage multiple work streams

  • People management skills and the ability to influence and lead without direct authority

  • Strong analytical and communication (oral and written) skills.

  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) certification preferred

  • College degree strongly preferred

  • Fluent with all MS Office applications
