The Individual Life Financial Planning and Analysis team (FP&A) is responsible for the preparation of management reports, quarterly forecasts and financial analysis. Employees of the Individual Life Finance Department are required to interact and partner effectively with counterparts in the Actuarial department, Treasurers, Asset and Liability Management (ALM), Corporate SEC Reporting, the GAAP and Statutory Consolidation Reporting groups, Risk Management, Internal Audit, PricewaterhouseCoopers and other areas within Prudential.

We are currently seeking a Manager of Planning and Analysis whose primary role will be to support investment spread forecasting, reporting and analysis across various financial statement lenses, and to continue expanding existing and building out new capabilities. The successful candidate will also be supporting product profitability and pricing analysis, and modeling of various strategic initiatives. This position is open to candidates in either Newark or Hartford locations. This is a highly visible role that requires frequent interaction with business partners across Individual Life Actuarial, Asset and Liability Management, Individual Life Expense Reporting, Individual Life Business Partner Distribution Support, and Individual Life Capital Management groups.


The successful candidate for this position should possess the ability to manage multiple deliverables concurrently, have strong written and oral communication skills, possess strong modeling and data management skills, and have demonstrated strong analytical and strategic thinking skills. Because of the complexity involved, broad knowledge of GAAP/STAT reporting and actuarial concepts is important. The successful candidate will develop an in-depth understanding of the Individual Life products, GAAP and STAT reporting, and drivers of the financial results. The candidate will have the opportunity to interact with and present to Senior Management, and will be expected to play a key role in the completion of important deliverables.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Prepare quarterly GAAP/STAT investment spread and captive financing costs forecasts and analysis
  • Prepare quarterly forecast review packages and present to senior management
  • Lead meetings with key business partners to analyze financial results and forecasts
  • Manage and lead the completion of all forecast and quarter close investment spread deliverables
  • Partner extensively with business partners within and outside of Life Finance to complete various assignments
  • Support the DPC Program to ensure net spread projection capabilities can support stress testing requirements
  • Assist with product profitability analysis and preparation of review packages
  • Assist with product pricing analysis and financial modeling of various strategic initiatives
  • Seek opportunities to improve existing processes and controls, and to build out new capabilities
  • Completion of adhoc requests for Senior Management, key business partners, and other Corporate areas

Overtime is required during peak reporting periods and in the case of special projects / deliverables.



    • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance
    • Minimum 5 years accounting/financial reporting experience
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables and meet deadlines
    • Strong modeling and data management skills
    • Ability to partner and interact effectively across organization
    • Strong analytical skills and the ability to pay close attention to detail
    • Ability to think strategically
    • Strong PC skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
    • Ability to succeed both independently and as part of the team
    • CPA or MBA is a plus
    • Knowledge of insurance products preferred
