Pfizer's Drug Safety R&D (DSRD) is a global organization dedicated to helping Pfizer expedite delivery of safe and effective therapies to patients. DSRD provides input into drug target selection, helps identify promising drug candidates, develops biomarker and screening assays, and leads the conduct and interpretation of toxicology studies in support of clinical development programs.

Our DSRD Statistics team is looking for an enthusiastic statistician with a passion for problem-solving and innovative thinking. As a member of the Statistics team located in Groton, Connecticut, you will collaborate with scientific colleagues on the design, analysis, and interpretation of a wide array of nonclinical safety studies.

You will work with colleagues across many scientific disciplines, each generating critical data types for analysis and decision-making in the drug development process. Disciplines include general toxicology, pathology, safety pharmacology, genetic toxicology, developmental and reproductive toxicology, safety biomarkers, immunotoxicology, and investigative toxicology. You will also be part of rich and diverse community of statisticians across the broader Pfizer organization.


+ Collaborate with scientists in the study design, analysis, reporting, and interpretation of Drug Safety R&D studies

+ Develop automated statistical solutions to increase the efficiency of DSRD study conduct and reporting

+ Participate in research on statistical methodology and its applications as they relate to DSRD business needs

+ Partner with other data science / computational groups to identify optimal solutions to scientific problems

+ Contribute to development and delivery of statistical training to DSRD colleagues

+ Help promote an effective Statistical network with other Pfizer statisticians.

+ Help promote statistical excellence, champion statistical influence, and ensure statistical support for all DSRD projects and products

+ Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across DSRD and Pfizer

+ Influence the external environment through publications and presentations, and actively participate in cross-industry initiatives


+ M.S. in Statistics or Biostatistics with minimum 3 years' experience in an applied statistics setting, or Ph.D. in Statistics or Biostatistics

+ Computational experience in R and SAS

+ Outstanding communication skills


+ Strong statistical knowledge in general linear models, experimental design, probability, categorical data analysis, and multivariate analysis

+ Experience analyzing high-dimensional data

+ Familiarity with machine learning methods

+ Ability to identify/develop and apply new quantitative methods as needed to solve problems in pharmaceutical research

+ Statistical consulting experience

+ Strong scientific background, with good working knowledge of biology, chemistry, pharmacology, or toxicology
