The main purpose of this role is to lead MSR team to ensure the following operations

Lead a team of customer facing medical MSRs overseeing their strategies and plans and ensuring they execute with enthusiasm, diligence and excellence.

Planning and providing customer facing education and training for Medical Affairs teams in Internal Medicine and other business units

Based on a scientific knowledge and a wide knowledge of disease area, enagage domestic and international medical KOL (KOL specified in advance by employees belonging to MA) and external customers (HCP, academic societies etc.) through scientific exchanges

Through scientific exchanges with the domestic and international medical KOL, identify unmet medical needs, collect and analyze insight, and execute medical strategies corresponding to Pfizer's business

Support correspondence of UMR or slide review, as required

Represent IM MA customer facing teams to senior management, when necessary

Description of Primary Role & Responsibility

Team management and talent development

Lead and supervise MSR team (6 MSRs) to ensure talent development and unleash talent

Establish a culture of inclusion, innovation, and joy

Excellence in customer facing medical activities

Lead and supervise each MSR team as for its members to acquire and enhance medical/scientific knowledge of the products in its responsible area and to establish optimal medical partnership with medical KOLs through Medical-to-Medical communication (meet with KOLs to provide scientific information and exchange information with them).

Execute scientific exchange with domestic and international medical KOL in charge area about the latest medical information (papers, conference presentations, guidelines, safety information, etc) and establish a good and reliable relationship

Provide the latest medical information based on the scientific evidence for promoting the appropriate use of Pfizer products including development products and off-label information in response to requests from external customers (KOL / HCP / academic societies) (papers, conference presentations, guidelines, Safety information etc) and appropriately respond to UMR (Unsolicited Medical Requests)

If necessary, appropriately support ISR (Investigator Sponserd Research), CTP (Compound Transfer Program), CRC (Clinical Research Collaboration) and NIS (Non-interventional Study) managed by MAPL based on relevant laws, regulation of industry and internal

Medical Communication

Lead and supervise MSR team as for its members to collect and analyze costumer insights from responsible KOLs and collaborate with office medial colleagues and cross-functionally for strategy development and execution

About important knowledge and latest information (papers, conference presentations, guidelines, safety information etc) based on scientific evidence, discuss with identified medical KOLs, collect and analyze insight

Also, through communication with those medical KOLs, grasp the state of treatment of diseased areas in charge and identify unmet medical needs. Then, grasp how Pfizer's medicines and activities are useful and reflect it in the medical strategy

Ensure the scientific validity of promotional activities by providing to the internal commercial division (marketing and sales departments) the latest information (scientific papers, conference presentations, guidelines, safety information etc.) based on scientific evidence, and analysis results of medical insight.

Communicate MAPL unmet medical needs collected relevant to product development and life cycle strategy.

Support medical and scientific education in the internal commercial division in the disease domain.


Lead and supervise each MSR team as for its members to penetrate the value of Medical Affairs to both inside and outside the company by observing the Code of Conduct of Medical Affairs (e.g., MI 02 Policy, Code of practice by JPMA, Guidelines on Pharmaceutical Product Communications by MHLW)

YRR: Your Reporting Responsibilities

In all Pfizer products, lead and supervise each MSR team as for its members to execute surely "collecting and reporting safety information" after complying with applicable laws and the Pfizer policy and to take the training timely on assigned safety reporting obligations.



Be capable to grasp customer needs and its background and insight

Have data analysis ability

Have good communication skills and presentation skills

Be capable to discuss with related departments and HCPs based on medical and pharmaceutical expertise regarding disease areas and products in charge

Understand compliance in the pharmaceutical industry and related laws and regulations and promote proper use of pharmaceuticals

Be capable to set innovative targets, to involve and lead members of other departments and to achieve goals

Be capable of understand scientific papers in English of disease areas in charge and to communicate in English


Managerial skills required, such as, strategic thinking, logical mind, creativity/innovation, negotiation, decision making, cooperativeness, well-influence, coaching/training, and operating organization. Lead the medical team and internal/external stakeholders to achieve goals.


MD, PhD, Pharmacist, MSc


MD and/or PhD preferred in the health science fields (medicine, pharmacy, biology, biochemistry, epidemiology, public health, etc.)


At least 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical fields (medical or clinical development) or person who is more than or equal to that. Research experiences, achievements (conference presentation, scientific paper) in medicine or pharmaceutical science field are preferable. Management experience is preferable.
