Responsibilities

Lead Network Engineer provides management, direction, administration, quality assurance, and leadership of the execution of engineering and service delivery of the USAREUR G6 AR North Network.

The Network Engineering Teams are responsible for the development and implementation of voice, video, radiofrequency, and/or data communications networks. The network team:

  1. Analyze voice, video, radio-frequency, and/or data communications networks, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting, and upgrading operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices.
  2. Configure routers, switches, VPN concentrators, firewalls, and TACLANES, (specifically Brocade and Juniper and General Dynamics TACLANES) to support the USAREUR MPE-related network environments.
  3. Assist in planning network layouts and configures systems to user environments.
  4. Analyze network topologies and traffic and capacity requirements.
  5. Support the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed.
  6. Plan, design, install, maintain, troubleshoot, resolve problems and perform network asset management of Brocade switches and routers, Juniper routers and firewalls, firewalls, proxy servers, Intrusion Protections Systems (IPS), and encryption devices such as TACLANES
  7. Provide technical support and troubleshooting to users.
  8. Configure VPN tunnels on Brocade and Juniper devices and configure TACLANES, to include installing encryption keys.
  9. Perform network administration duties.
  10. Provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced network personnel.
  11. Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
  12. Participate in special projects as required.

Maintain and support a constant state of readiness, security, performance and availability of G2 tactical and strategic networks, which include: NIPRNET / SIPRNET /JWICS/ EXERCISE-SIPRNET / DSL / WIRELESS / USBICES / CENTRIX / BI-LATERAL / MULTILATERAL / COALITION / PARTNER NATION /NATO operational, deployment and exercise networks. Schedule and maintain full, incremental, and differential file backups and restoration tasks for the Intelligence Processing Center (IPC).

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Information Technology (IT) and 5+ years or more of similar training and/or experience as a Network Engineer.

Required:

Experience leading a complex network engineering effort and experience leading enterprise IT services support in multiple locations.

Must be Germany Technical Expert Status Accreditation (TESA) qualified

Clearance:

TS/SCI eligible

Certifications Required:

  1. Information Assurance Technical (IAT) LVL III CISSP, CISM, GSLC, or CCISO
  2. PMP
