The Development Lead / Architect - Clinical Integration and Interoperability role demands the highest level of development and Intersystems IRIS / Ensemble application platform expertise, including collaboration with business partners, product owners, architects and engineers to define and develop innovative ways to drive clinical interoperability.

In this role, the candidate must be capable to lead and drive complex application designs/solutions necessary for data integration and processing. The person will be doing hands-on solution development and validation for acquiring, extracting, enriching, evaluating and distributing clinical data.

The candidate is expected to understand the health information technology industry standards, clinical data vocabularies, and transmission protocols.

Primary Responsibilities:

    ""
  • Responsible for designing, writing and maintaining clinical data integration software. This will include assisting in documenting, refining and communicating detailed process design
  • ""
  • Work with other architects and lead delivery team / developers to build high-quality, scalable and performant software solutions
  • ""
  • Analyze and implement internal and external customer requirements for clinical data exchange
  • ""
  • Support QA (Quality Assurance testing) and UAT (User Acceptance testing) for implemented solutions
  • ""
  • Provide technical and data standards subject matter expertise to team members
  • ""
  • Mentor team on technical solutions and data standards
  • ""
  • Develop, manage and communicate best practices, development methodologies and procedures to engineering team
  • ""
  • Integrate functional and non-functional requirements into detailed software designs, including balancing technical, performance and cost considerations
  • ""
  • Bring people together to meet common goals using facilitation, negotiation and influencing skills. Build and advance collaborative relationships with business partners, product managers and IT partners
  • ""
  • Hands-on software development and quality evaluation
  • ""
  • Support and steer employees and project teams through efficient design, development, testing, and deploy phases
  • ""
  • Ensure solutions are of high quality, are high performance and are scalable
  • ""
  • Create and provide reporting to engineering leadership to accurately communicate status, issues, risks, recommendations

Required Qualifications:

    ""
  • 10+ years of software development experience with data intensive, scalable, high throughput applications leveraging knowledge of industry standards and solid SDLC practices / methodologies
  • ""
  • 5+ years of software design experience with InterSystems IRIS / Ensemble including hands-on, detailed development experience using ObjectScript
  • ""
  • 5+ years of clinical data integration or clinical data interoperability experience
  • ""
  • 3+ years of experience leading software development teams
  • ""
  • Knowledge of industry standard patterns, practices and technologies including source control, deployment, message streaming, REST and other web services APIs
  • ""
  • Experience with both existing and emerging interoperability standards such as HL7 V2.x, C-CDA and FHIR
  • ""
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including explaining complex concepts effectively to technical and nontechnical audience, negotiation and persuasion, conflict resolution, and presenting to executive levels management
  • ""
  • Strong leadership skills having lead changes in large multi-functional teams and experience using Agile practices
  • ""

  • Experience with integration technologies including: Cache, HealthShare or other interoperability platforms such as Mirth, Orion Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, eGate, JCAPS, InterSystems, Optum, etc.

  • Experience with writing business requirements for clinical data applications and data interfaces

  • Knowledge of leading Provider EMR systems including Epic, Cerner, GE, Allscripts, Meditech or HIE
