This full-time role exists within Pfizer's Devices Centre of Excellence (DCoE) group based in Cambridge UK. DCoE is Pfizer's global drug delivery device team who engage in projects across all business units and therapy areas within Pfizer's global network. A core activity within device development is the design of clear user instructions and training materials in the form of printed 2D graphics. User documentation now comes under the scrutiny of regulators and the effectiveness of such documentation is a regulatory requirement. Testing of user instructions in the hands of intended product users is a mandatory process to enable optimisation and the success of instruction design is key to being able to launch Pfizer's portfolio of drug products.



The requirement is for a full time, office-based instructional design illustrator to take on user instruction design amongst many other diverse graphic design activities for internal and external projects. The specific requirements for the role are as follows:



**Major Duties**



+ Develop User Instructions / training materials. (i.e. ability to understand and interrogate a process then reduce it to clear, precise and informative steps - and create attractive, readable, and navigable design documents)

+ Create Word versions of User Instructions for regulatory review and submission purposes

+ Create graphic concepts and exploratory graphical styles.

+ Taking concept sketches all the way through to implementation (print-ready)

+ Able to work within design constraints but recognise where areas of design freedom exist and exploit them

+ Review reports and human factors study videos

+ Support change control for IFU documentation

+ Support the generation of device regulatory submission data

+ Support internal and external audits of the DCoE Quality System.



**Person specification**



**Education**



+ Degree, HND or equivalent in relevant subject

+ Understand concepts of force, torque and manual handling limitations, and the potential consequences for user behaviour (basic ergonomics)



**Experience**



+ Excellent use of vector and bitmap graphical packages (Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop)

+ Experience with design documentation creation and print (As evidenced by portfolio)

+ Good IT skills essential - PC literate (rather than Macintosh) with good experience with typical Microsoft Office applications including MS PowerPoint

+ Minimum one year relevant experience

+ Experience working in medical device design or a similar regulatory environment

+ Experience of design reviews, heuristics, basic use of CAD, rendering, photo-editing, branding

+ Strong ability to develop User Instructions / training materials. (i.e. ability to understand and interrogate a process then reduce it to clear, precise and informative steps - and create attractive, readable, and navigable design documents)

+ Excellent design ability with keen eye for layout and content appropriateness

+ Strong ability to develop User Instructions / training materials

+ Flair for creating graphic concepts and exploratory graphical styles

+ Strong attention to detail in graphical, typographical and copy

+ Position located in Cambridge, UK. Able to travel or relocate to Cambridge area
