*Job Description:*

This position supervises and directs the daily functions of the transportation operations and is responsible for maintaining positive relationship with the Auction Commercial Accounts team, Manheim Logistics Dispatch Coordinators, ensuring the efficient, orderly and timely movement of vehicles to and from the Auction as well as providing quality service.

*Job Responsibilities:*

* Grow the transportation business through communications with the auction staff, customers and dealers. Sales calls and/or visits are required.

* Establish and maintain a close working relationship with Auction Leadership, Commercial and P&P.

* Supervise and direct the work of logistics employees by determining work procedures, preparing work schedules, expediting the workflow, assigning duties and monitoring work for accuracy and conformance to policies and procedures.

* Coach and monitor dispatch coordinator staff for adherence to outlined daily processes and SOPs

* Champion of Manheim Logistics Community of Practice.

* Counsel and discipline employees as necessary. Plan, monitor and evaluate employee job performance, and conduct performance appraisals.

* Assist manager in counseling and disciplining employees, in evaluating employee job performance and conducting performance appraisals.

* Work with manager to review work volumes, compliance, reporting plan and continuously monitor staffing levels to ensure efficiency, quality work product, and effective customer service; review departmental performance against key performance indicators and metrics and develop executive strategies for improvement.

* Champion transportation location specific LDM boards and activities in alignment with Hub and Spoke auction locations.

* Contact customer to determine vehicle availability and condition and schedule the pick-up and delivery.

* Determine outstanding pick-ups, compile data and generate transporter and account aging reports.

* Ensure proper loading and shipping, as well as the timely arrival of vehicles at their proper destinations.

* Ensure drivers follow appropriate safety guidelines when driving customers vehicles.

* Coordinate department activities with customer account representatives and transporters.

* Maintain up-to-date records on transport companies and verify that each company meets all established insurance, safety and quality standards.

* Maintain communication with other departments and management team providing relevant information to coordinate activities of the department and ensure high quality of service to both internal and external customers.

* Provide outstanding customer service and resolve problems.

* Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such. Work in cooperation with Market Safety Manager in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.

* Effectively leads the team at the location by setting an example in behavior, championing Cox/Manheim/Ready values and ensuring that all employees are treated with respect.

* Enforce all company policies and procedures related to employee and customer conduct.

* Partner with various market level support teams (i.e. Finance, HR, MFS, Recon, Safety, Security, Sales) to ensure effective and efficient operational processes that align with company objectives and strategies and high-quality customer service and support.

* Some overnight travel may be required.

* Perform other duties as assigned by management.


* High School Diploma or equivalent required.

* 3 - 4 years experience as an administrative and/or operations supervisor in the transportation or trucking industry, or dispatching experience required.

* Auction experience and knowledge of overall Auction functions preferred.

* Strong sales background required.

* Strong communication and interaction skills required.

* Competent supervisory and excellent organizational skills required

* Ability to multi task required

* Basic computer skills preferred.

* Valid drivers License and good driving record required.

* Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission.

* Flexible work hours, as position requires occasional evening and weekend hours.

* Knowledge of transportation and DMV laws and regulations required.

* Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear.

* Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat and climb.

* Vision abilities required include close, distance and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

*Work Conditions:*

Moderate noise level. Frequent exposure to outdoor weather.
