The North Carolina Medicare & Retirement Healthcare MarketManager will be responsible for driving key health plan metrics, including Star Ratings, diagnostic coding and documentation, and member and provider satisfaction. In this role, you will leverage data to identify and implement strategies to ensure that market targets are met or exceeded. This role will work cross-functionally with various UnitedHealthcare and Optum matrix partners to ensure operational readiness around key initiatives. This role reports directly to the Executive Director of North Carolina and provides both training and an opportunity for growth within a highly collaborative team setting.

Primary Responsibilities:

    ""
  • Defines and owns execution of NC Stars strategy, partnering with internal and external resources to ensure NC Medicare Advantage plans meet key targets around CMS Star Ratings and HEDIS chart collection
  • ""
  • Drive execution of NC diagnostic coding and documentation strategy, working cross-organizationally with local health plan team, Network, Market Medical Director and Optum to increase suspect closure and recapture rates, as well as provider compliance with charts audit requirements
  • ""
  • Responsible for achieving market-level NPS and CAHPS/HOS goals, creating member loyalty to UHC Medicare plans and receiving high ratings for the Health Plan and Health Care
  • ""
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key health systems and provider groups across the state
  • ""
  • Work collaboratively with customer service on member escalation issues that cannot be resolved through normal customer service channels
  • ""
  • Collaborate with national product and marketing to develop and execute local retention plans, including planning/coordinating local town halls and member events
  • ""
  • Support national and local strategies intended to overcome Social Determinants of Health barriers to care
  • ""
  • Monitor key performance metrics like member/PCP assignment rates and intervene as needed
  • ""
  • Support product management functions, including plan and member materials, provider directories, EOCs, ANOCs, ID Cards, etc.
  • ""
  • Ongoing education to members, providers, sales managers/agents and vendors related to product offerings, benefit changes and strategy
  • ""
  • Assist local UHN to identify and resolve operational claim or member eligibility issues
  • ""
  • Use local market knowledge/expertise to influence business decisions that will impact results, including benefit design, network, sales and marketing plans
  • ""
  • Build community relationships with local constituencies and organizations (community agencies/partners) that will support our ability to achieve business objectives

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in business, mathematics, economics, finance, health policy or similar field
  • ""
  • 3+ years of experience working in Healthcare or managed care environment
  • ""
  • Experience with analytics; ability to work comfortably with large datasets
  • ""
  • Experience with project management; thorough follow-through skills
  • ""
  • Intermediate or higher level of proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • ""

  • Previous experience working in provider network contracting or provider network operations

  • Previous experience working cross functionally across health care product operations (network, sales, service, systems, etc.)

  • Previous experience in process management and ability to perform root cause analysis
  • ""
  • Ability to build strong community relationships with a working knowledge of the product line
  • ""
  • In-depth understanding of the interdependencies across healthcare product operations (network, sales, service, systems, etc.)
  • ""
  • Exceptional organizational skills that will allow individual to manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet aggressive local goals and objectives
  • ""
  • Ability to display a high level of discretion, trustworthiness, honesty, compassion and passion in their business dealings with internal and external customers
