The Global Clinical Supply organization's vision is dedicated to providing quality, life-changing, investigational medicines to patients. The Data Strategy - Business Lead is a key component in driving our digital strategy to innovate and continually optimize our physical and digital supply chains.


This position plays a critical role in advancing the Global Clinical Supply Data Strategy including all aspects of 1) data quality, 2) growth of the data marketplace and 3) reporting and analytics.

This position is responsible for delivering the processes, infrastructure and capabilities to enable Global Clinical Supply to unlock insights built on structured and unstructured data, accelerate speed to decisions, and pursue next generation analytics to drive continual innovation in our delivery of clinical supplies to patients.


+ Lead the Data Strategy effort having strong program management oversight. This includes ensuring effective project controls are in place, requirements are well defined, deliverables and risks are tracked, strong communication plan deployed, and budget/resources are allocated appropriately.

+ Employ effective business change management practices to ensure broad adoption of the solutions within the Data Strategy remit

+ Deliver high quality and timely access to both internal and external data from disparate source systems.

+ Develop, maintain and report on Key Performance Indicators on data quality and the data marketplace

+ Further develop the data marketplace platform to enable advanced analytics, machine learning and AI in support of data driven decision making.

+ Provide strategic business leadership for the development, change control and utilization of the data marketplace.

+ Function as the "translator," liaising between the Digital organization and the Business to ensure understanding of the business needs, and the Business understands Digital's controlled software development process for a regulated system.

+ Manage a matrixed team of business SMEs and work stream leads to ensure that the design, development, and configuration of the system meets business needs, addresses compliance vulnerabilities and provides a global solution.

+ Align with the Digital organization to leverage a variety of data management, advanced analytics, data driven solutions, tools and technologies to foster the digital clinal supply chain eco system.

+ Ensure active Governance sponsorship, communicate project progress to Governance, seeking their endorsement when required.

+ Understand the full supply chain business process and information hand-offs between lines and relevant systems

+ Stay current with respect to machine learning / statistical / mathematical / informatics modeling methodology, to maintain proficiency in applying new and varied methods, and to be competent in justifying methods selected

+ Have a strong understanding of the system development life cycle, computer system validation and GxP requirements

+ Partner with system owners, Quality Assurance and the Digital organization to understand data quality practices and ensure alignment with the overarching Data Strategy

+ Partner with the Digital Clinical Supply Chain Center of Excellence to ensure alignment with the overall digital vision for GCS, and to seek endorsement and/or funding for strategic decisions


+ Bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering, Computer science, Math, Statistics, Economics or related field and 14+ years related experience

+ Five years' experience working with AWS big data technologies (Talend, Redshift, Tableau, Spotfire, etc.)

+ Proven success in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe data modeling decisions and data engineering strategy

+ Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers for best practices on data engineering

+ Familiarity with statistical models and data mining algorithms.

+ Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations

+ Familiarity with Data Quality Practices

+ Experience developing business cases with demonstrated Return on Investment
