Sodexo, leader in quality of life services is seeking an experienced General Manager for SSM Health Good Samaritan in Mt. Vernon, IL and SSM Health St Marys in Centralia, IL.  Both hospitals are located approximately 1 hour from St. Louis and are 25 miles apart.  SSM Health is a Catholic, not-for-profit health care system with 11,000 providers and nearly 39,000 employees in four states, including Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Illinois, and Missouri. SSM Health is one of the largest employers in the cities it serves.  This is a unique opportunity to lead 2 food service teams to drive results in patient satisfaction though the implementation of our At Your Request room service meal delivery service for patients and innovative retail programs such as our Mindful and Simply To Go programs.


As the leader of our Food Service Team, the General Manager will be responsible for managing the department operations and financial responsibilities in addition to on-site patient services, retail caf©, and catering.


We are looking for General Manager candidates who will:

  • have oversight of day-to-day foodservice operations;
  • deliver high quality food service;
  • achieve company and client financial targets and goals;
  • develop and maintain excellent client and customer relationships;
  • develop strategic plans;
  • implement Sodexo programs and standards;
  • manage a team of 60 non-union staff and 4 Sodexo managers
  • create a positive work environment; and
  • ensure all Sodexo Standards are met.

The ideal candidate:

  • has a work history demonstrating strong leadership skills preferably in a healthcare setting and the ability to work collaboratively;
  • has a strong background in food safety and sanitation compliance;
  • has the ability to manage multiple priorities, demonstrate professional communication skills, and a passion for a high level of customer service;
  • will have experience implementing Sodexo's At Your Request (AYR) patient meal services program;
  • can demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks and exhibit flexibility to take on additional responsibilities as needed; and
  • can demonstrate working knowledge of Sodexo Food Management Systems (FMS) and The Market Connection (TMC) or similar programs, and is proficient in computer skills and report management experience.

Position Summary

Directs all contract management service operations at a single account/unit. Plans and supervises special functions. Maintains cash control and payroll records. Hires and trains unit personnel. Maintains customer satisfaction and good public relations. Manages through managers and is accountable for the contract. Senior-most person assigned to a one client account.Provides local leadership and strategic direction while developing team for new and emerging business solutions that sustain growth in the day to day operations.Key Duties- Directs all contract services.- Oversees management/administrative team who are responsible for special functions, cash control and payroll.- Customer and client satisfaction- Drives growth - Financial management

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience  

Basic Management Experience - 5 years              

Basic Functional Experience - 5 years
