Sodexo is seeking a Food Production Manager for the Universities segment at Salem State University in Salem, MA. Sodexo is seeking a bilingual candidate. The ability to speak Spanish would be helpful in managing this workforce. Students today are constantly on the go, expecting healthier dining choices, excellent service and lots of flexibility for where and when they choose to eat. The Food Production Manager will have HACCP/Sanitation responsibilities, as well as responsibility for food/labor and inventory cost controls. Customer service and client relations/satisfaction are top priorities. This position will have a hands-on presence during meal service periods including catering and concessions.

 

Our ideal candidate will have the following: 

  • College/University culinary experience, preferred;
  • Strong background with experience in campus dining and high volume venues;
  • Emphasis on food presentation, quality, execution, menu design & implementation;
  • Focus on customer service excellence;
  • A passion for campus / community engagement;
  • Demonstrated experience providing strong leadership, including supervision, direction and training, to a diverse team of employees;
  • Focus on food and physical safety and sanitation;
  • Experience managing food and labor cost controls to meet targets;
  • High level of computer literacy and skill-set;
  • Strong understanding of financials and strong analytical thinking skills;
  • Great client relations and a desire to be invested in the local campus/community; 
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Sodexo Food Management System (FMS) The Market Connection (TMC) and is proficient in computer skills and report management experience; strongly preferred.

Position Summary

Responsible for inventory management and procurement of food and supplies at an account/unit to ensure client satisfaction and retention for the Company.  Manages food production through kitchen staff in a large facility. Contributes to account revenue and operating profit contribution through cost containment and safety.  Key Duties- Utilizes Sodexo resources, recipes, systems and programs to direct daily operations including; food production, inventory, product deliveries, invoices, and procurement operations.

- Ensures employees have appropriate equipment, supplies and resources to perform their job, and meet goals, cost controls and deadlines as assigned.

- Establishes and maintains a safe work environment including both food and physical safety in order to comply with all regulatory and Sodexo standards

- Complies with budget requirements by controlling costs (i.e. labor, inventory, equipment, materials) and making adjustments when necessary

- Supervises employees by delegating, assigning and prioritizing activities, and monitoring operating standards 

 

 

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experienceBasic Management Experience - 2 years Basic Functional Experience 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
