The George Washington University Hospital (GW Hospital) is a 395-bed tertiary care, academic medical center located in downtown Washington, DC. As an academic medical center, GW Hospital has the resources and clinical expertise necessary to provide specialized, complex care. GW Hospital is jointly owned and operated by George Washington University and a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. The GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS), adjacent to the hospital, is the 11th oldest medical center in the country and the first in the nations capital.

 

We are looking for candidates who can:

  • Knowledge of nutrition and specialized diets; AYR and Cbord is a plus.
  • Collaborate with clinical, food service and interdisciplinary teams to enhance the patient experience;
  • Perform tray assessments to ensure food quality and presentation and tray accuracy and stocking/inventory of the floors; Knowledge of CaterTrax.
  • Passion for our patients and customers to ensure our Sodexo CARES (Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Enthusiasm and Service) behaviors are followed daily;
  • Evaluate and develop service levels for the overall Patient Services Program targeted to exceed patient and customer satisfaction; Knowledge of Advocur.
  • Provides all necessary reports related to financial: TMC, DBS, and OMD
  • Promotes and supports workplace diversity initiatives.
  • Directs daily operations of patient meal services at patient care units to ensure employees have appropriate equipment, inventory and resources to perform their jobs and meet goals and deadlines.
  • Ensures that employees demonstrate an active customer hospitality orientation toward customers and clients.
  • Manages by providing positive and constructive feedback to employees in order to reward, coach, correct and motivate.
  • Starbucks and Subway franchaise knowledge is a plus.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Sodexho/client policies and procedures (e.g. quality assurance, safety, operations, personnel).
  • Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to employees.
  • Implement performance improvement and quality assurance programs targeted to improve customer satisfaction;
  • Establishes a safe work environment for employees by providing safety-related training and equipment maintenance and by ensuring compliance with Sodexho safety and loss prevention programs and with standards.
  • Exceed Sodexo standards for Gold Checks and achieve successful regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Maintains current Servsafe certification and any locally required certifications.
  • Strong management skills, preferably in health care.
  • Perform some HR functions and direct supervision of hourly associates.

 

Position Summary

Provides leadership and supervision for the on-site food service exempt and non-exempt level staff in the delivery of our contractual agreement with the client. Provides supervision for food services at account/unit to ensure client satisfaction and retention for the company. Implements business practices in order to uphold company mission, values and commitments made in the Sodexo client contractual agreement.Key Duties- Establishes a safe work environment

- Assumes General Managers (GM) responsibilities and authority in his/her absence

- Utilizes Sodexo tools and programs to develop client, customer, and staff relationships,  to ensure account retention

- Implements and fully utilizes all Sodexo tools and programs to ensure financial outcomes

- Directs daily operations of food service to ensure employees have appropriate equipment, inventory and resources, ensures operating standards and regulatory requirements are met

- Develops and implements plans, projects, with defined objectives, methods, timetables and budget to support client and Sodexo strategic plan

- Ensures adherence to all HR standards for Sodexo, client, and  regulatory agencies 

 

 

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience

Basic Management Experience - 3 years   

Basic Functional Experience - 3 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.Sodexo is an EEO/AA/Minority/Female/Disability/Veteran employer.
