As part of the Corporate Controllers Department and the CFO Organization of PFI, the Finance Shared Services (FSS) organization is responsible for the controllership activities in support of the U.S. business units including the International activities performed domestically.  The Financial Accounting & Analysis (FSS A&A) team supports monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP and Statutory close processes, including journal processing, reconciliations, and analysis of balance sheet and income statement drivers. The team partners with Business Unit Finance areas as well as actuarial and other corporate areas. The Insurance Consolidation team manages the accounting and analysis activity for the various Corporate and Other (C&O) and Asset Liability Management (ALM) investment subsidiaries, helps to drive certain functional responsibilities across the Insurance businesses, and drives standardization and efficiencies through best practices.


The primary responsibilities of the Financial Reporting Specialist role are as follows:


  • Execute timely and accurate completion of general ledger close responsibilities
  • Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Support management and customers with analysis
  • Identify, research and resolve notable variances and unreconciled items
  • Collaborate with Business Unit Finance areas, Corporate areas and other internal business partners on accounting and reporting matters
  • Develop, maintain and share applicable analysis and work papers with customers and across FSS
  • Provide internal and external audit support
  • Support project initiatives as assigned
  • Seek out and develop process improvements    

  • Bachelors or Graduate degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or MBA a plus)
  • 3-5 years of financial reporting experience or related field
  • Knowledge of GAAP and STAT accounting principles
  • Experience with Prudential Financial Systems preferred but not required (Essbase, OBI, PPM, DRM Hierarchies and TMS)
  • Highly motivated and creative problem solver; strategic thinker
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong collaborative and partnering skills
  • Highly motivated, proactive, detail oriented
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work overtime during peak periods
