Reporting to and partnering with the E&I Operating Expense Management Associate Director, the E&I Operating Expense Management Finance Consultant will play a critical role in planning and reporting E&I and UHC operating expenses. As a member of the finance team, the position will manage key financial deliverables related to business planning and budgeting associated with operating expenses. This critical role requires knowledge of the business, strong financial skills, finesse in dealing with sensitive matters and the ability to work with a wide range of people with vastly different skills (finance, strategy, product, operations, etc.).

Primary Responsibilities:

    ""
  • Oversee all Operating Expense Forecasting & Budgeting for UHC Finance, E&I Underwriting, E&I Actuarial & HCE. Ensure SG&A accuracy of the Budget and forecasts, present financial narratives and metrics for both internal and external constituents and align with company and segment strategic plan
  • ""
  • Compile SG&A estimates and daily close reporting during the Month End Close cycle (WDs -3 through WD 6)
  • ""
  • Analyze and report on monthly financials, and partner with senior leaders to collaboratively manage budgets
  • ""
  • Develop or improve upon existing financial reporting tools to continuously improve deliverables to business partners
  • ""
  • Understand the UnitedHealth Group financial process and become an active participant in the management of its financials
  • ""
  • Provide recommendations to Senior Management based on financial analysis and projections.
  • ""
  • Partner with multiple business leaders as the finance lead and liaison, and maintain a strong working relationship
  • ""
  • Perform cost-benefit and trend analysis, calculate cost impact, summarize and support monthly risks and opportunities
  • ""
  • Assist with identifying, analyzing, and driving cost savings into the organization

  • Various ad-hoc analyses and reports as necessary

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • ""
  • 3+ years of progressive financial experience
  • ""
  • Work experience anticipating issues, assessing their implications, and developing and implementing an appropriate action plan
  • ""
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Essbase Smartview and MS Office product suite
  • ""
  • Strong executive presence, communication, and influencing skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • ""
