Unit Description

Sodexo is seeking an Executive Chef IV at ProMedica Toledo Hospital ProMedica Toledo Hospital is a 800 bed hospital in Toledo, Ohio.  The Executive Chef 4 will support the day to day operations for the retail caf©, At Your Request (AYR) patient dining program and catering services.  The ideal candidate will have total culinary responsibilities including the supervision of hourly staff with a focus on amazing food.  The Executive Chef must also have experience with Sodexo's Food Management System (FMS) or similar systems, a solid knowledge of HACCP standards and the ability to manage a team of 30 team members.  The successful candidate will also possess a solid understanding of food safety and sanitation guidelines, computer literacy as well as excellent leadership, communication and customer service skills.

  • A strong culinary background, innovative with the demonstrated ability to stay current with new culinary trends.
  • Ability to create diverse menus and standards for a unique environment.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to maintain the highest of standards and implements company policies.
  • Extensive culinary experience to include cuisine styles that are diverse and international for our clientele.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Unit purchases utilizing TMC and client procurement programs
  • Storage area organization
  • Inventory management
  • Waste reduction
  • Working within unit budget
  • Training & development of staff
  • Direct customer and client interaction
  • HR functions (recruiting, interviewing, disciplinary)
  • Ensuring quality standards and compliance with HACCP guidelines
  • Employee engagement 

Position Summary

Directs daily operations of food production, including menu planning, purchasing, ordering, inventory food preparation, post meal analysis and record keeping. Ensure employees have appropriate equipment, inventory, and resources to perform their jobs and meet goals and deadlines.

Establishes operating standards, implements and maintains Sodexo and branded concepts standards, creates quality improvements and communicates them to employees.

Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Sodexo/client policies and procedures (e.g. HACCP, quality assurance, safety, operations, personnel, SoSafe and EcoSure).

Trains other chefs/staff on culinary skills through day to day trainings as well the use of Culinary Foundations trainings and standards, and serves as technical expert.

Maintains and develops client relationships and client satisfaction for all aspects of food production to ensure account retention.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Basic Management Experience - 5 years

Basic Functional Experience - 3 years
