Sodexo is looking for an Executive Chef 3 in Flushing, NY


Fast paced urban hospital with emphasis on patient satisfaction, employee engagement and budget compliance.Sodexo has an excellent opportunity for an Executive Chef 3 to join our winning food service team at NewYork-Presbyterian/Queens Hospital a 537 bed acute care facility located in Flushing, New York.   In this lead culinary role, you will have direct oversight of the food production operations for their full-service Cafe, Catering and Patient Meal Services utilizing \"Expressly For You\" a specialty meal program.  Responsibilities will include:  menu planning, inventory/purchasing, food & labor costing, ensuring food safety & sanitation compliance, hands-on food preparation, catering, training, leading the culinary team to outstanding results and supervision of 20 union hourly associates.


The ideal candidate will posses at least 2-3 years lead culinary experience with a focus on fresh and innovative culinary concepts, a strong working knowledge of food safety and sanitation compliance as well as excellent leadership, communication and customer service skills.


Responsibilities include:

\u2022 Managing daily food production that includes production planning, preparation and food safety controls\u2022 Ensuring that Sodexo Culinary Standards are maintained, which includes recipe compliance, food quality and food safety\u2022 Managing labor and food costs \u2022 Ordering and inventory management\u2022 Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and sanitation\u2022 Support the training and development of the culinary staff

This is an operational position serving an average census of 85 patients per day equaling 230 meals, breakfast - lunch and dinner in addition to the operation of our Cafe which serves and average of 300 meals per day.

Responsibilities will include over-site of our culinary team, product ordering per the Sodexo platforms, inventory control and menu planning.

Position Summary

Provides culinary leadership within a large sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training.  Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution.  Key Duties- Implements & coordinates the culinary function.  - Directs & trains cooks & utility workers.- Ensures food preparation & production meets operational standards.- Manages catering & retail areas.- Customer & Client satisfaction.- Financial management to include food cost & labor management.- Manages food & physical safety programs. 


Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience

Basic Management Experience - 3 years   

Basic Functional Experience - 3 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.Sodexo is an EEO/AA/Minority/Female/Disability/Veteran employer.
