Unit Description

Sodexo is seeking an Executive Chef 2 for the Dining Services at Wayland Baptist University located in Plainview, Texas.  This position will manage a culinary team of hourly employees.  A strong emphasis will be placed on client and customer engagement and strengthening the catering operations.  Supporting the campus mission, ensuring sustainable initiatives, providing quality Resident Dining, Retail, Catering, Conference and Concession program operations are extremely important to this client.

 

The ideal candidate will:

 

  • Have food service experience in high volume, multi-unit and catering management.
  • have extensive formal culinary training.
  • have a strong focus on food quality and presentation as well as high end catering experience.
  • have previous success managing a University Campus account.
  • have strong leadership skills, computer skills, culinary knowledge, and food/beverage cost controls.
  • be versed in culinary functions, food and labor cost control, food safety and sanitation.
  • be technically competent in unit financial management, pricing, menu development and will be responsible for the training and development of front-line hourly employees and managers.

  • superior interpersonal skills and have the ability to develop and maintain professional, positive working relationships with multiple clients, liaisons, customers, employees, supervisors, and vendors.
  • strong communication skills and will be able to articulate ideas, thoughts, opinions, professionally and clearly within all levels of client and Sodexo's organizations.
  • strong time management skills and will be able to juggle multiple priorities.

Position Summary

Provides culinary leadership within a medium sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training.  Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution.  Key Duties- Implements & coordinates the culinary function.  - Directs & trains cooks & utility workers.- Ensures food preparation & production meets operational standards.- Manages catering & retail areas.- Customer & Client satisfaction.- Financial management to include food cost & labor management.-  Manages food & physical safety programs.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experience Basic Management Experience - 2 years Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.Sodexo is an EEO/AA/Minority/Female/Disability/Veteran employer.
