Sodexo at Lehigh University is seeking an experienced Executive Catering Chef 2  

in Bethlehem, PA.

We are looking for candidates who will:

  • manage the daily food production including production planning and controls;
  • ensure Sodexo Culinary Standards including recipe compliance and food quality;
  • manage food costing, controls and compliance;
  • develop menus and manage inventory;
  • have high expectations for customer service and quality of food;
  • have the ability and willingness to develop and train frontline employees;
  • have a passion for food and innovation;
  • have knowledge of special diets and allergens; and
  • knowledge of Sodexo Food Management System (FMS) is preferred.

 

The Executive Catering Chef at Lehigh University assists with overseeing 2.5 million dollars in sales, a team of seven cooks, a bake shop, transportation and utility team. They oversee the day to day operation of the catering department including creating menus, purchasing, receiving, preparation, execution, and post evaluation of all catering events.  Oversee the Asa Packer Dining Room which is open for lunch to Faculty, Staff and Students.They will work closely with the Director of Catering and Catering Managers participating in meetings with Faculty, Staff and Students to create menus for events such as Board of Trustees, Presidential (at the President's House and locations around campus)  Provost, Deans, Development and Senior Leadership.  They will build and foster relationships with our customers to continue to anticipate and exceed their menu expectations.They will assist the campus dining chefs with menu creation for special events, assist with the execution and service of the event.They will create and participate in client driven events such as Play with your Food a hands on teaching based event.They will assist with week financials including overseeing the purchases, reconciling and approving invoices, and monthly inventory. They will assist with closing out daily, weekly and monthly financial reports and assist with maintaining an accurate food cost.

 

The ideal candidate has:

  • a strong culinary background, with the demonstrated ability to stay current with new culinary trends;
  • excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to maintain the highest of standards and implements company policies;
  • previous experience working in a high volume facility; and
  • strong management skills.
  • High volume experience with trend setting catering and creative presentation
  • Creativity with food and ble able to present and speak in detail to groups for tasting purposes and menu development.

Position Summary

Qualifications & Requirements
