As the ETL (Extract Transform Load) Data Engineer you are a member of the Optum Consumer Capabilities team within the Customer Office. You will be responsible for application development and designing comprehensive solutions that meet business requirements and incrementally moving the data warehouse to the future state. Hands-on experience and knowledge of ETL and Data Warehouse and working knowledge of SDLC/agile methodology is required for the role. We believe in good work ethics, adaptable to work with business/IT blended team, desire to learn and grow in the role, good communication skills, excellent analytical and problem-solving skill.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for development, testing, implementation and operational support using different ETL and Data Warehouse technologies
  • Assist the technical team in identification and resolution of Data Quality issues
  • Assist with code reviews, documentation, follow coding standards, production support and infrastructure maintenance. Performance tuning in very high data volume environment
  • Assist with configuration management and software release experience; as well as change management concepts to drive the success of the projects
  • Partner with business analyst and technical team to understand and communicate the business needs to translate them into IT deliverables
  • Work alongside Project Management to ensure alignment of plans with what is being delivered
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of experience in Data Warehousing
  • 2+ years of hands on ETL (e.g. Talend/ Informatica/Data Stage) experience
  • 2+ Unix/Linux scripting experience
  • 2+ SQL
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent
  • If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Talend, Rundeck, Unix, Netezza, Teradata, Oracle, API, SQL, Unica, R, Cloud, Kafka, Java, Open source tools, Azure, AWS, CICD (Jenkins, Chef, GitHub) and test automation
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and independent workload planning skills
  • Strong analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities as well as exceptional customer service orientation
  • Excellent organizational skills including ability to prioritize tasks efficiently with high level of attention to detail. Excited by the opportunity to continually improve processes within a large company
