**Job Title:** Engineering Technician

**Department:** Engineering

**Position Reports to:** Shift Engineer



**Job Purpose:**



The Engineering Technician will be responsible for all front line activities associated with the continued operation of all plant/equipment/automation. The Technician will be expected to support the equipment in all aspects (Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, etc.) making the best use of the skills available in the Maintenance team as the situation requires. The Technician will be expected to be proficient and highly engaged in the Imex process within Suite 3.



The Technician will be responsible for undertaking all initial fault diagnostics and when necessary coordinating the required support services to ensure a swift and effective resolution is achieved for all problems. The Technician will complete excellent trouble shooting with rapid resolution to minimise production down-time. Disciplined troubleshooting methods will be employed such as method ones and clearly document actions and decision rational. While the emphasis will be on execution of the Preventive Maintenance program and diagnosis and resolution of equipment issues to support production, liaison with the Engineering group will also be required where system changes are required to correct operational issues (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, etc.)



The candidate will, when directed, complete all maintenance routines or oversee the completion of maintenance routines by third party suppliers. The Technician will comply with all site policies and procedures. He/she will integrate with his/her team members within both the engineering and manufacturing organisations. The candidate will work with production/operations to operate, maintain and fault find, in breakdown or planned maintenance, the manufacturing equipment including vessels, washing and sterilising equipment, automated production filling and liquid handling equipment and inspection equipment.



The candidate will be able to develop and operate a Planned Maintenance Management System in a cGMP environment and Work and direct, where necessary, a multi-skilled maintenance team of and/or contract personnel to execute maintenance, investigate faults/failures, remedy plant issues, maximise plant availability. They will apply continuous improvements to their work and efficiency, and will work in a self-directed team environment.



This is a 24 hour 7 day shift position.

**Job Responsibilities:**



+ Actively support and implement improvements to the IMEx systems and take leadership in areas of TPM, defect walks and CI programs.

+ To work and function in a team environment operating 24/7

+ To ensure all work carried out and equipment installed is safe, effective and in compliance with the appropriate industry standards.

+ To ensure all company and Site Engineering policies and procedures are adhered to. Work within Data Integrity and ALCOA guidelines.

+ To ensure all work undertaken is reflected accurately in Work Order documentation and/or up to date Engineering / project information files.

+ To be the systems maintenance expert in a cGMP environment.

+ To review and approve work carried out to systems and equipment by OEM suppliers, alliance partners, service and construction type contractors.

+ To work closely with the manufacturing organisation to ensure that the status of all plant equipment and systems are communicated and understood at all times.

+ To implement all planned maintenance activities in accordance with cGMP and excellence in engineering practices.

+ To diagnose and resolve equipment issues (mechanical, electrical, automation, instrumentation). This may require the use of diagnostic tools within the automation system / PLC programming software and may also include performing temporary automation interventions in support of production.

+ When necessary review Maintenance Task Lists, SOP's, EWI's, and other relevant documentation to instigate the necessary changes post review.

+ To deliver training in line with site training procedures.

+ To review equipment spares holding levels and make changes post review.

+ To pursue solutions consistent with continuous improvement philosophy.

+ Any other activities as directed by the Shift Engineer





**Education/Experience**



+ Ability to function in a team environment with good communication skills

+ Demonstrated experience in the maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of complex equipment.

+ Demonstrated leadership and engagement with Imex.

+ Experience with cGMP and sterile area requirements for pharmaceutical clean rooms.

+ Proficient engineering experience with high speed vision inspection, syringe filling pharmaceutical systems and Autoclave / Formulation equipment is required.

+ Experience working with Delta V manufacturing control systems (MCS)

+ Understanding of how to work in a class A isolator when applying interventions to equipment.

+ Understanding of SOP's, Change Control and all related GMP Engineering systems

+ Strong understanding of the fundamentals of servomotors and associated controls.

+ Proven track record operating in a planned maintenance system

+ Demonstrated, professional and practical trouble shooting experience.

+ Ability and keen interest in applying continuous improvements.

+ Experience of stainless steel vessel, filter piping systems maintained in clean sterile condition.

+ Condition based monitoring of production equipment.

+ Good interpersonal skills, and an adaptable and flexible approach to the role.

+ Educated to Trades/Diploma/Degree level and or equivalent experience

+ Ability to work in self-directed groups.

+ Customer Focused

+ Should be able to demonstrate hands on experience with detailed knowledge/skill in the majority of the following areas;



-Excellent computer literacy

-Troubleshooting / repair of Low Voltage Electrical Systems,

-Troubleshooting / repair of Mechanical systems

-Troubleshooting / repair of camera-based Detection systems

-Troubleshooting of SCADA / PLC / DCS Hardware and Software

-Ability to understand electrical, pneumatic and logic diagrams
