Your team will help create the regulatory and standards-based conditions that will enable future generations of wireless technologies to reach customers.



Who Youll Work With

The Cisco Wireless Chief Technology Officer is developing a strong and global team of technical leaders that can forge the conditions necessary to enable wireless solutions for spectrum allocations, technical rules and standards. Our Organization is focused on delivering opportunities that can be addressed by Ciscos broad portfolio of wireless products and solutions.



Who You Are

You are a people-focused technical leader who understands spectrum-based technologies and how regulatory and third-party entities, such as regulatory agencies, industry organizations, and standards bodies, influence the wireless industry.  By understanding Ciscos product roadmap, developing technical evidence, advocating for sound technical rules, and through collaboration with others,  you create opportunities to expand and improve Ciscos wireless business.  You enjoy thinking on your feet and you see yourself as an expert who can persuade others.   



Roles & Responsibilities:

(1)  Prioritization of Opportunities

Based on familiarity with Ciscos product and solutions portfolio, and a deep understanding of near term regulatory and standards activity, develop and maintain a plan for your activities that will be most impactful to Ciscos wireless business. 

  • Resources
  • Apply a sophisticated analytical approach to understanding what resources are required to achieve the key priorities you have identified and ensure that the Wireless CTO and your team understands all options and possible outcomes. Assist the Wireless CTO in acquiring additional resources as necessary.
  • Communicator and Negotiator
  • Communicate effectively in writing and orally, both to your organizations hierarchy, horizontally to colleagues and collaborators inside and outside of Cisco, and to those who you seek to educate or persuade.  Apply negotiation skills to your approach as needed in order to deliver the best possible outcomes for Cisco. Effective presentation skills, including the ability to crystalize complex topics for executive decision-making, are a requirement.
  • Technical acumen
  • 8+ years of experience
  • In addition, familiarity with how national regulatory bodies make technical decisions to release or regulate spectrum is important.  Direct experience in a company or regulatory environment is a plus. Experience in standards organizations such as IEEE, ETSI, GSMA or ITU-R is also recommended.
  • Regional qualifications
  •           Americas.  Based in the Americas, familiarity with or interest in database approaches to spectrum management is highly recommended.  Prior experience with FCC regulatory policy development on wireless topics and prior participation in relevant trade associations is desired.  Most business will be conducted in English, but Spanish language skills are a plus.
  •           Europe. Based in Europe, familiarity with the European Commission, CEPT, and national regulatory bodies as those entities regulate spectrum and wireless is highly recommended. Prior experience with regulatory policy development on wireless topics and prior participation in relevant trade associations and or ETSI is desired.  Most business will be conducted in English, but additional European language skills are a plus.
  •           Asia.   Based in Asia, prior experience with national regulatory policy development on wireless topics, including technical studies,  and prior participation in relevant trade associations is desired.  Most business will be conducted in English, but additional Asian language skills are a plus.
  • Leadership ability and judgment
  • Communicates a clear vision and strategy to inspire others and empower fellow team members.  Able to get things done without direct line authority; able to exercise personal influence, resolve conflict, and bring about best possible outcomes. Translate Cisco's vision for the future into a compelling value proposition for persons and institutions outside of Cisco.
  • Desired skills

 

- Have a minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience

- Experience with wireless products and services such as IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi and/or IMT technologies

- Demonstrated experience working with global cross functional teams
