Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement, and coordinate all phases of energy conservation programs;
  • identify technical and energy problems within buildings and propose solutions;
  • coordinate energy saving concepts, and energy studies;
  • work with the existing campus energy management systems and other systems to provide air quality and lighting comfort conducive to a campus learning atmosphere and cost-effective energy efficient strategies;
  • oversee/produce Energy Use Dashboards for the university community;
  • Participate in University Sustainability and Recycling Committees;
  • Point of Contact for all utility vendors, responsible for all utility invoice verification and oversee corrections and adjustments;
  • prepare estimates, plans, specifications, bid documents and supervise implementation for energy conservation projects;
  • have knowledgeable of all federal, state, and local guidelines as well as energy conservation legislation and industry standards.

 The ideal candidate will have:

  • A proven track record of successful energy management leadership experience as demonstrated by articulated results and accomplishments;
  • 3+ years of energy management experience preferably at a university or college;
  • Be a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), equivalent or will qualify to sit for the exam;
  • the ability to pull information and create reports;
  • prior experience working with a CMMS;
  • the ability to work with outside vendors and contractors;
  • exceptional customer service, relationship building and communication skills.

The University of Tampa is an urban, growing Division II University located downtown Tampa on the Hillsborough River. The University of Tampa has over 3 Million SF on over 105 acres.  There are 11 Residence Halls, multiple athletic fields (natural and artificial turf), 60 buildings including registered historic structures.

The University has over 9,300 students enrolled with approximately half housed in campus facilities.  There are over 200 academic programs of study maintaining a 20:1 student to faculty ratio.  This requires many hours of building occupancy and energy use.  Additionally, the Unversity offers Sustainability programs in which Facilities plays particular roles in student and faculty program development and leadership.  This role is integral to the academic, social and financial success of sustainability programs at the University.  This program will evaluate environmental and financial impacts of recycling and waste management.  Coordiante activities with other departments to optimize sustainability activities including recycling, water and power reduction.

Position Summary

Responsible for analyzing current energy usage and developing the clients energy management plan in order to provide proper environmental conditions with cost effective energy utilization. Develops, maintains and manages energy tracking systems and utilities consumption database to monitor and audit HVAC controls.

- Develops long-range plans for implementing energy conservation and recommends sound policies directed towards sustainability

- Provides regular reports as to the overall effectiveness of the energy management program

- Participates in or leads energy management and sustainability training sessions for client staff and other Sodexo Managers


Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience

Basic Management Experience - 5 years
