Qualifications The most important qualities for a candidate are an ability to quickly and eagerly learn new subjects, a willingness to work as part of a small team, and the discipline to complete work with minimal supervision. Some ability for self-direction of work is expected. The ideal candidate will also satisfy as many as possible of the following desires:
- Must have strong fundamentals in physics and mathematics including linear algebra, coordinate transforms, and kinematics
- Must be able to perform independent analysis of existing models, and perform bug fixes and improvements
- Must be able to develop models of physical systems, based on provided data and independent research
- Must be proficient in C/C++, and Python
- Must be able to draw new, unique conclusions from data collected from systems, test events, and simulations.
- Familiar with multi-threaded and real-time software development and optimization techniques
- Familiar with Linux system administration and software development
- At least a Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
- Five or more years of related experience
- Requires 5 to 8 years with BS/BA or 3 to 5 years with MS/MA or 0 to 2 years with PhD.
In addition, attractive candidates will have:
- Experience with Matlab/Simulink
- Experience with embedded system development
- Experience with PC-based data acquisition systems
- Be able to read, understand and analyze electrical schematics
- Knowledge of aircraft survivability equipment, and aircraft survivability M&S
- A Masters Degree or higher in Electrical or Computer Engineering
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET DoD Security Clearance, which must be applied for and granted as a condition of continued employment. Responsibilities This is great opportunity for a hands-on Engineering Analyst to use his/her knowledge and skills to support the development of a complex Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) test bed. The test bed includes a high-performance simulation computer running a real time variant of Linux, and a custom computer-to-hardware electrical interface. The ideal candidate is comfortable wearing many hats. This position requires a candidate with a flexible mindset and an eagerness to learn about many topics. It is a great opportunity for a candidate to broaden his/her skill set by tackling very unique and challenging engineering problems. Very rarely will there be two months, or even weeks, in a row that are the same.
The candidate will have a unique opportunity to perform some reverse engineering analysis on a test system in order to properly integrate it into a test bed. The candidate will modify, design, develop and test models of dynamic and optical system to integrate the test system with the laboratory test bed. The candidate will read through electrical schematics, interface control documents, product manuals, etc. in order to understand system operation and to perform software and hardware integration tasks.
The candidate will participate in test planning, system integration, and test activities as well as troubleshooting and debugging the test bed hardware and software. The candidate will also contribute to some systems engineering tasks.
