As Optum supports John Muir Health in this strategic transformation it will be critical that the Analytics team provides high quality deliverables that support operations and decision-making, while also creating leading capabilities in predictive analytics and use of novel data sources.

The Director of VBC Analytics will act as an advisor and interface between the analytics organization and key client business stakeholders to support the operational and strategic initiatives for a strategic client partner. This role is critical to fostering relationships, driving overall performance, and instilling rigor in the approach taken to produce analytic deliverables. Working closely with client business and clinical leaders as well as internal Optum business partners, this individual will support and drive the client's value based care analytic agenda by proactively surfacing potential analytic solutions, scoping solutions in response to client business needs and working with the analytics organization to deliver on analytic solutions according to the client's strategic priorities. This role is critical to support execution of the client's strategic value based care initiatives and operational delivery system performance.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Partner with key stakeholders to develop and execute operational and strategic client plans that addresses the client's business needs
• Understand and translate key client business challenges tied to value based care delivery into potential analytic solutions to support those business challenges
• Develop subject matter expertise in current and emerging value based care models
• Evaluate population health program
• Support service deployment and closely monitor performance, working with analytics leadership, finance and operations to ensure financial viability and operational excellence
• Perform financial projections and pro-formas for value based care contracts
• Develop provider distribution compensation models
• Advise clients on value based care contracts and term definitions
• Perform financial feasibility analyses
• Design new programs and products in collaboration with clinical partners
• Lead negotiations and presentations
• Perform quantitative analysis of actuarial, financial, utilization and costs data
• Pursue and support new business development activities
• Analyze forecasts and trends
• Collaborate with leaders of strategic initiatives to drive analytic information into business actions and with clinical leaders and clinical informatics team to drive findings into clinical workflow
• Manage and mentor Analytics resources within a matrixed leadership model

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• Minimum of 7+ years demonstrated experience in healthcare analytics and / or healthcare consulting
• Minimum of 3+ years leadership experience in a value-based care Analytics setting
• Minimum of 3+ years' experience and credibility interacting with healthcare leaders including "C" level executives and medical directors
• Minimum of 2+ years of leading large complex programs and/or initiatives where data is a key asset
• Must be local or willing to relocate to the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area

Preferred Qualifications:

• ASA or FSA designation
• Advanced SQL skills
• Experience leading a team in a matrix environmen
• Deep experience in understanding health ecosystem - strategic and operational working knowledge of healthcare delivery system in value-based care and fee for service environments
• Experience in analyzing hospital operations, clinical variation in the hospital environment and/or experience in providing analytical support in value-based contract negotiations with payors and providers
• Demonstrated success leading large complex programs and/or initiatives where data is a key asset
• Exceptional writing and presentation skills
• Able to translate complex data analytic information into simple business terms
• Basic SQL skills
