What You'll Do

As the Director of the SP Marketing Strategy, you will be responsible for leading the SP Marketing Strategy Team in defining the growth marketing strategy for Service Providers. You will lead the conception and creation of offers, collateral, campaigns, co-marketing and digital programs to support your strategy. You will work closely with all Product Marketing Teams as well as the broad Growth Marketing & Partner Marketing organizations to ensure a scalable strategy across all applicable market segments. You will craft marketing that will enable Cisco to seek key customers challenges and grasp growth opportunities.

  • Create differentiated approaches to Market SPaaCh to all SMB and Large Enterprises
  • Derive outstanding co-marketing options to highlight Ciscos managed and production networking solutions.
  • Collaborate with broader marketing, product, engineering, and sales teams to ensure alignment of branding and consistent messaging in thought leadership areas

Your group will also be responsible for providing in-depth education to other areas of Marketing and Sales to ensure that they have a full understanding of growth marketing strategies and their value to our key customers:

  • Ensure that the team fully understands the use of our offers/solutions within their specific industry and can visualize how the introduction of our solutions will affect industry business outcomes.
  • Serve as the Cisco Marketing Expert across product lines as needed for events and solution level discussions
  • Support the trickle-down education of localization regional teams to enable them to localize at a regional level and support sales activities for our priority customers.

Once you define the growth strategies, your team will develop messaging hierarchies, education programs, and shepherd the marketing assets to life. You will provide oversight in support of your teams collaboration with our Campaign, Content Creation and Customer Engagement teams to develop marketing campaigns, interactive digital journeys, and supporting events. Your strategic approach to marketing will be a primary sales generator within the SP marketplace and a key contributor to the success of critical Cisco business solutions. You will be responsible for ensuring that defined messaging and value propositions are effectively cascaded and pulled through to execution.

Your team will also be responsible for the creation of product use cases and case studies that effectively demonstrate the contribution of our products to our customer's business outcomes. It is essential that these use cases/case studies resonate with the customers with relatable outcomes, correct industry language, and product applications that are directly aligned to their business. These stories will be sourced from several areas within the organization:

  1. BU and Product Marketing Use Cases (Developed from Tech Scenarios),
  2. Sales Use Cases (Developed from Customer Opportunities and Challenges), and Regional Localization Strategies for Use Cases that are relative to a particular region.

Your focus will rapidly grow beyond Service Provider Products, you will be responsible for looking across the various product/service topic silos to build/map solutions for our customers. Effectively constructing and marketing business solutions is a significant area of opportunity for GSP Marketing, and you will serve a pivotal role in our joint success. You will assist the Vice President of Global Service Provider and the Campaign Team to engage customers by helping to contribute in their language, with product solutions that are directly connected to their business goals.

  • Develop the ability of your team to deliver product marketing that is innovative and portrays our products into ground-breaking solutions that go beyond traditional solutions to overcome key business challenges and achieve opportunities
  • Translate highly complex or unusual technical problems into understandable business solutions that leverage Cisco products or technologies.
  • Direct your team to develop product marketing and value propositions that align with key engineering priorities and roadmaps.
  • Shepherd your solutions through to execution, ensuring that they remain technically sound and customer-relevant.
  • Building strong and sustainable relationships and interact w/ all organization levels.
  • Demonstrate outstanding leadership for your team as well as foster collaboration within the overall GSP Team, as well as with key stakeholders in BU Engineering, Sales, Service, CMC, and Growth Marketing organizations.
  • Provide training and mentorship, based on your experience, to further the deployment of your team and other GSP groups in their aggregate responsibilities.
  • Negotiate with and influence decision-making at the senior management in other areas to gain cross-functional support of marketing solutions and initiatives.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of its own function, business, and market segment expertise to differentiate Cisco from the competition and to solve critical issues successfully and innovatively.


Who You Are

A bachelors in Engineering, IT, Networking or related Marketing, plus 15 years of related experience in the Service provider segment of customers.

10+ years of demonstrated experience in network or development operations solution creation, preferably with Service Providers.
