Palmetto Summerville Behavioral Health is a 64-bed Residential Treatment Center that offers quality behavioral health services to adolescent males and females aged 7-20 with psychiatric, behavioral, or conduct issues. We currently areseeking a Director of Education. This individual will supervise our school's teachers and provide for staff development; design the Education Department philosophy and programs to meet the criteria of the State Department of Education and facility standards; develop, implement, and maintain student services; provide care and guidance to students; monitorthe departmental budget; and sustain a safe, therapeutic environment.

  • Work with a team of general and special education teachers to create a unique learning experience for students with mental and behavioral health challenges.
  • Participate in contributing educational information in treatment team meetings.
  • Oversee thedevelopment ofinstructional plans that can adapt to the varied instructional levels and needs of our diverse student group.
  • Oversee the conducting ofeducational assessments of residents anddata keepingof progress and growth.
  • Participate in activities that enhance professional growth and development.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Education with State Department of Education endorsement in dealing with the emotionally disturbed, learning disabilities, or mental retardation (ED, LD, MR).
  • Two or more years' teaching experience.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Skills in case management, time management, and crisis intervention.
  • Knowledge of developmental psychology of youth.
  • Ability to respond to emergency safety situations in a calm, compassionate manner.
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to provide outstanding Service Excellence.
