Director of Data and Analytics Portfolio

We are seeking a senior leader to be the portfolio owner of our data and analytics product portfolio. As a key leader in the data and analytics organization, you will play a critical role in transforming Edward Jones into an organization that utilizes its data assets to improve the lives of our clients and colleagues, and together, better our communities and society.
The data and analytics portfolio includes the central repository for analytics and reporting data across Edward Jones and additional products which enable:

* Associates and leaders across Edward Jones to turn insights into action through reports and dashboards;

* Data analysts and business analysts across the Firm to explore data to for new insights and share those insights utilizing business intelligence software;

* Data scientists and analytics professionals to explore, prototype and operationalize analytic models into digital products using advanced analytic techniques such as machine learning and artificial intelligence;

* Digital product teams to incorporate analytic data and insights into their products to provide extraordinary user experiences;


* Data producers and consumers across the firm to understand our data assets while enabling data stewards and custodians to curate the metadata of their data assets;

In this role you will:

* Lead and develop the vision and strategic direction for the data and analytics product portfolio;

* Influence General Partners and senior leaders across the Firm including Analytics and Insight leaders, Digital Product Portfolio leaders, and Business Leaders in order to align and deliver value to portfolio stakeholders;

* Partner with General Partners and senior leaders across the Firm to utilize analytics to identify business opportunities, solve business challenges and integrate analytics into digital experiences;


* Establish and prioritize objectives for your area of responsibility and measures of accountability for results;

* Attract, develop and lead a team of product managers and product owners to achieving stated objectives, develop and maintain their product roadmaps, and leading high performing teams of cross-functional associates to deliver the promised value to users and achieve the product vision;

* Apply knowledge of data and analytics capabilities, portfolio users' needs and experiences, Edward Jones business strategy and objectives, and the financial services industry in order to inform portfolio strategy and decisions;

* Lead and assist others in the management of business, data, system and regulatory risks

* Drive organizational technology innovation through a deep understand of the data and analytics technology vendor landscape and industry leading practices for technology product development



Position Qualifications:

* Bachelors Degree and preferred Advanced Degree or Certification in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Analytics, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related field;

* 15+ years of experience in financial, economic, or analytical role preferred; Financial services industry experience preferred;

* Advanced to expert level of understanding of data and analytics;


* Prior leadership experience with increasing levels of responsibility, executive level oversight preferred.

* Executive leadership skills with the ability to provide direction, create a strong team environment and build firm talent;

* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to define and cast directional vision across all organizational levels;

* Broad and deep knowledge of financial services concepts, practices and procedures;


* Exceptional technical aptitude and analytical skills;

* Ability to overcome ambiguity and deliver transformative results;

* Teamwork / collaboration mindset with the ability to work with stakeholders throughout the organization;

* A robust understanding of data and analytics development within an Agile framework;

* Product orientation with a strong sense of ownership.

Problem Solving:

* Utilizes data from multiple sources to understand the root cause of problems

* Leverages knowledge of the financial services industry, operational best practices and the Firm's strategies to develop potential solutions.

* Effectively partners with other leaders to examine alternative solutions and to understand the broad implications of the solutions.

Decision Making:

* The decisions are often complex and non-routine, requiring the ability to analyze, interpret, and decide based on limited and unfamiliar information. Decisions should reflect current trends in data and analytics capabilities, product management best practices, the financial services industry, operational best practices, and the Firm's strategy.

Span of Influence:

* The span of influence is high in that the Director of Firm Analytics has responsibility for working with senior leaders on decisions that impact the Firm's strategy and operations.

* The impact of decisions are broad, potentially impacting the Firm's clients, associates, and economic results. The decisions have a lasting impact on the Firm (5+ years).

* This role is a leader of leaders position, responsible for leading the work of multiple products and teams through collaboration with General Partner and Executive level leaders.
