Assists in supporting, validating and improving affordability initiatives with appropriate dashboard and metrics, diagnosing process improvement opportunities and developing measures to monitor progress in achieving medical expense cost management opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • This position is also responsible for medical expense management performance monitoring, in partnership with HCE and Finance, including:"""

    • Developing and maintaining a process for validating results and tracking performance for national programs and local affordability initiatives
    • """
    • Monitoring and communicating medical management performance to target
    • """
    • Primary lead in coordinating across Clinical Performance/Finance/HCE
    • ""
    ""
  • ""
  • Analyze, review, forecast and trend complex data, promote understanding of clinical and operational best practices and market trends, and translate to impactful business decisions
  • ""
  • Provides strategic oversight and vision related to analytic approaches supporting clinical affordability project outcomes and modeling, as well as developing robust business cases
  • ""
  • Recommend appropriate methodologies and techniques to achieve objectives based on available data through comprehensive clinical analytic reporting, analysis and dashboards
  • ""
  • Execute on affordability roadmap to achieve Medical Trend expectations
  • ""
  • Continually improve processes, tools, templates and approaches to increase efficiencies and effectiveness in designing, implementing, and monitoring solutions end to end in supporting the Optum Care - Care Delivery Organizations
  • ""
  • Responsible for periodic affordability trend forecasts, explanation of medical cost results and variances, evaluation of emerging medical cost issues, and development and evaluation of healthcare affordability initiatives
  • ""
  • Communicates strategic and operational analytic concepts and findings to all levels of the organization, including developing summarized conclusions and recommendations from projects, presenting actionable opportunities, and proposing strategic and operational options for debate and consideration by the organization based on key findings

Required Qualifications:

    ""
  • BA/BS in a related field
  • ""
  • 6+ years of experience developing and leading strategy, high level tactical planning, and establishing and leading teams responsible for end-to-end (strategy, design, develop, implement, ongoing process improvement) for large, complex initiative implementations spanning across multiple functional teams
  • ""
  • Business, Finance and Analytic acumen
  • ""
  • Solid MS Office Suite
  • ""
  • Advanced analytical and technical skills, including ability to translate data to actionable business decisions
  • ""
  • Ability to effectively lead, manage and deliver in a very fast paced, ever changing environment
  • ""
  • Solid in solving problems and issues in a matrix environment and communicating effectively at all levels of an organization
  • ""
  • Working knowledge of quality and risk adjustment and deep knowledge of medical management with solid experience working in the following: STAR, RAF, Utilization Management (CM, DM, Pre-Service, Concurrent Review)
  • ""
