The Innovation Lab Lead will provide oversight and management of our Digital Innovation platform and service offerings for greater China and the APAC region. This role will be responsible for all operations that are pertinent to the vast array of demands for digital innovation and help Pfizer accelerate our bold moves and impact patients.

The Innovation Lab Lead will manage a set of services that are critical to delivering new and emerging digital health technologies into these regions. They include sensing and scouting of new startups and emerging health technologies, opportunity incubation that includes execution from problem statement to pilot, and external ecosystem engagement, which will facilitate market challenges and co-development partnerships in the public and private sectors.


+ Lead Pfizer Digital's Innovation Lab for the APAC & China regions, including Emerging Markets Asia. Represent the Global Innovation Lab's vision and goals to provide an injection of new digital health technologies that are scalable and help accelerate Commercial, R&D, Manufacturing and Safety business objects that align to our Bold Moves.

+ Interface with senior leadership, country managers and regional digital leads to implement an Innovation Strategy that captures new digital health technologies across the diverse APAC and China regions.

+ Provide regular external communications, working with our global and regional PR and comms groups, to promote our challenges and pilot projects to build a strong, positive reputational footprint in the startup communities.

+ Interface with business unit leadership to build out specific challenges that will capture new healthcare technologies that may accelerate their business objects and impact patient's lives.

+ Scout and curate new technologies across the regions that are applicable to our diverse set of business challenges

+ Identification of one or more accelerators and academic institutions with a digital health portfolio

+ Work with governments and public institutions, along with private accelerators, to build alliances that can incubate, foster and execute on new digital health initiatives which complement our portfolio and accelerate our bold moves.

+ Manage and lead global and regional Open Innovation challenges, prioritizing opportunities and coordinating the appropriate forums for pitch days and demos, resulting in a selection of finalists which meet the challenge objectives.

+ Provide leadership and support for pilot execution through the Innovation Lab ecosystem, including procuring the appropriate project teams and managing key resources to successfully run and evaluate the results of pilots projects.

+ Build out an external network of payors, providers, investors, healthcare systems, patients and patient advocacy groups which can provide consultation and insights on our challenges and emerging technologies that are found to meet them

+ Assist in evaluating the technical feasibility of startups and emerging technologies as appropriate to our level of engagement

+ Recognize what additional skillsets and expertise are necessary for a full assessment to move forward with these technologies

+ Recommend continuous process improvement strategies that optimize the contracting, onboarding and procurement processes that separate small, nimble startups from large vendor organizations

+ Continuously evaluate and keep a pulse on emerging trends in the digital healthcare landscape across the region and manage a demand funnel of new requests for research.


+ Experienced leader in digital health innovation and how VC and the startup and entrepreneurial ecosystems across APAC & China operate.

+ Experience in working with small startups and setting appropriate expectations between them and a large organization.

+ 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or health and sciences industry, with commercial marketing and business acumen; clinical experience a plus.

+ Understanding of complex business processes related to digital marketing for large commercial pharma brands.

+ Experience in working on digital initiatives that involve a complex array of stakeholders and dependencies, including compliance, legal and regulatory that are different in each market.

+ Knowledge of the differences in the healthcare systems, economics and financial environments across the countries that make up APAC.

+ Understanding of the Patient Journey and technology categories which can overlay this journey, specific to therapeutic areas

+ Leaderships skills and experience in managing a multi-national team of colleagues and contractors

+ Excellent communication skills with proven ability to communicate with senior leadership


+ Advanced degree in Life Sciences or Management

+ Fluent in Mandarin

+ Detailed understanding of the different cultural aspects across the APAC region and how these differences and similarities can be leveraged to build the types of internal/external relationships necessary to accelerate innovation.
