PepsiCos Data Management and Operations team is tasked with the responsibility of developing quality data collection processes, maintaining the integrity of our data foundations and enabling business leaders and data scientists across the company to have rapid access to the data they need for decision-making and innovation. What PepsiCo Data Management and Operations does: Maintain a predictable, transparent, global operating rhythm that ensures always-on access to high-quality data for stakeholders across the company Responsible for day-to-day data collection, transportation, maintenance/curation and access to the PepsiCo corporate data asset Work cross-functionally across the enterprise to centralize data and standardize it for use by business, data science or other stakeholders Increase awareness about available data and democratize access to it across the companyThe ideal candidate for director is creative, with demonstrated leadership to build fast paced innovative teams, passionate to develop team members skills, sets organization vision and goals and invests time to develop next generation leaders. Cultivates a data driven automation first culture the with superior analytical skills. He or she will partner with Lead Data Engineers, Technical Delivery Managers, Program Managers, Product Managers to help build world-class data organization and oversee the architecture, build and operations of the data platform. The right candidate for this role is someone who has both a strong technical background, with 12+ years of technical delivery management, program/product management background. These developments will be around topics like commercial, supply chain, finance, manufacturing, and logistics. You must have built data delivery organizations that provided quality data to multiple vital and critical business processes by building cloud data platform either in Azure, AWS or GCP. Key Accountabilities: Exert technical influence over multiple teams led by senior managers and managers, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing deep data engineering knowledge and as a subject matter expert across different digital projects of the supply chain. Work with Legal, Compliance, and Security to ensure D+A data products are compliant with regulations such as GDPR and CCPA. Accountable for ensuring that data engineering activities are aligned with PepsiCo's enterprise data security and cloud governance practices. Accountable for ensuring that data engineering activities are aligned with D+A global products roadmap and ensure on-time and on-budget delivery. Serve as a thought leader and SME for DevOps and DataOps industry trends, new and existing technology offerings, and architectural concepts. Establish KPIs and metrics to evaluate data & analytics solutions and set up strategic priorities for the data engineering team to deliver D+A's global data products and production support of the cloud-scale big data solutions. Encourage and drive adoption of data foundation products by identifying impediments and use innovation to remediate. Accomplish global data products objectives through a high degree of cross-functional planning, technical management, coordination, consensus building, and executing prioritized data initiatives Responsible for budget, forecasting, and Annual Operating Plan Planning for Data Engineering. Engage with team members, uses informal and structured approaches to career development to focus on individual improvement/capabilities, and provide balanced feedback. Lead and grow teams of developers with deep experience in data engineering, machine learning, distributed microservices, and full-stack systems. Own and drive the technical vision of Manufacturing and Logistics data products working with various cross-functional teams such as infrastructure, data, and enterprise architects to build scalable, optimal, self-service analytics solutions in the cloud. Own and drive the lifecycle of connected and harmonized Manufacturing and Logistics data foundation products to provide real-time inventory and route visibility, mileage optimization, and prescriptive actions to support manufacturing & fulfillment through to customer delivery. Lead cross-functional data engineering teams of strategic products like Value Chain Transformation and Holistic Cost Management tools and drive analytics-driven execution to minimize material waste, enable optimization of non-labor MOH costs, and increase labor efficiency. Qualifications/Requirements Bachelors degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline. 12+ years in the technology industry in a technical, product management, or evangelism/developer advocacy role. 10+ years enterprise IT application /software development experience, data engineering and or systems architecture. 10+ years of experience managing software and data engineering teams. 10+ year experience with stakeholder management, product and business sponsorship, risk management, executive briefing. 8+ years of experience with Data Lake Infrastructure, Data Warehousing, and Data Analytics tools. 5+ years in cloud data engineering experience in at least one cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP). Direct hands-on experience leading the design, development and deployment of business software at scale or current hands-on technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization experience. Strong understanding of data related security and compliance mandates. Experience with agile software development life cycle and iterative development methodologies. Experience with integration of multi cloud services with on-premises technologies from Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP, SAP etc. Experience in data discovery, engineering and analytic solutions. Experience with programming languages like Python, Scala and AI/ML frameworks such as Spark/Tensorflow. Experience with Messaging platforms like Kafka/Confluent, Streaming Platforms. Experience with evolving Data Warehousing and Cloud technologies like Snowflake, BigQuery, Synapse etc. Experience scaling and managing a team 15+ engineers.Skills, Abilities, Knowledge: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with the ability to influence and demonstrate confidence in communications with senior level management. Proven track record of overseeing a portfolio of multiple projects.. Strong change manager. Comfortable with change, especially that which arises through company growth. Able to lead a team effectively through times of change. Ability to understand and translate business requirements into data and technical requirements. High degree of organization and ability to manage multiple, competing projects and priorities simultaneously. Positive and flexible attitude to enable adjusting to different needs in an ever-changing environment. Strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills; comfortable managing trade-offs. Foster a team culture of accountability, communication, and self-management. Proactively drives impact and engagement while bringing others along. Consistently attain/exceed individual and team goals. Ability to lead others without direct authority.
